This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that’s the way I like it!

  1. I did Air Canada to the UK in economy (777) last week.

IFE was very good. Responsive and had lots of choice.

    Food was terrible.

  2. Ah, Toronto…when it's on television, squint and pretend it's New York City.

Congrats of the sponsorship. I'll probably buy a cheap suitcase while in Thailand to check on my way back from SEA next month. Souvenirs, Vietnamese coffee, and some Bangkok exclusive 7-11 snacks won't all fit in my carry on.

I have a flight next week on SQ's A350-900 ULR. I expect some weird looks from the crew when I change into my AA First pajamas. I sure hope my food is better than what was on your flight. It doesn't matter the airline, SFO based catering is hit or miss.

  3. same look i got from flight attendant when i asked for amneity kit for a flight from HKG to YVR recently. Feel like they are keeping the amenity kits to sell to other people after their shift is over.

  4. kevin, u said everything was average, then why is the score still so high at 82, thats an A 🙂
Maybe u r too king with ur scoring. I would have given this 60+ if this is indeed average.
If i use ur scoring system, i would put this:
Pre flight and ground 12/20 (That lounge was soooo drab, ive been there many times, its just old and doesnt compete with AC's own new lounges.
Food looks bad, but if its edible, id be generous and give it a pass 11/20

U r too nice kevin! lol

  5. Kevin how does this compare to its fellow Star Alliance partner United Airlines Polaris? If you put this alongside the East Asian partners of United you would have seen this result BR🇹🇼 Royal Laurel Class = TG🇹🇭 Royal Silk Class SQ🇸🇬 Raffles Class = NH🇯🇵 Business Class = OZ🇰🇷 Business class = CA🇨🇳 Business 🇨🇦AC Signature Class > UA🇺🇲 Polaris

  6. You described AC to the tee. They are not the best, but they are kind of what you can expect.

Here in Canada, people like to complain about AC but compared to American airlines like AA, Delta, etc, they always choose AC. Kind of like the saying "It might be a piece of sh*t, but it is our piece of sh*t.'

  7. How was the connection/transfer at YYZ? Did you have to go thru another security check?

  8. I’ve only taken Air Canada once on a short hop from YVR to YEG.
I wish CP Air is still in existence to compete with AC.

  9. I think your title would be more appropriate for a domestic or transborder flight rather than one headed overseas. In all likelihood, your revised ticket would have been pulled from the higher award bucket and thus given you access to the Signature lounge, though the MLL receptionist would have(or should have if this was the case) referred you to the better lounge.

  10. I've flown with AC several times. They serve everything course by course normally, but you had a late flight so maybe they adjust, just like you said. My biggest problem with this seat is that it's hard to sleep on the side, there isn't enough vertical space for the legs. Everything else was perfectly fine. Not amazing, but I'd still say above average.

  11. I have a soft spot for AC as its my country's flag carrier and my first biz experience was with them. After flying other business class products i think AC's business class is like the baseline for a "good" business class product its smack dab in the middle or, just as you said; Average. Its a solid B grade biz. Thanks for another great report Kevin.

  12. NGL I thought Air Canada's Signature Class was their First Class XD

Seat looks ok, but the food seemed really disappointing for a business class product based on your review, on both meals no less. Bedding seemed quite mediocre as well, with the sleeping pillow being a bit smaller than what I would have expected (more squarish rather than rectangular shaped).

I am curious why you seem so impressed with a handle in the middle of the luggage bag the way that Level 8 has it?
My current luggage has it as well, but its on the narrower side of the bag and not on the wider side.

  13. Imagine you've paid CAD$4,000 for that flight . You're lucky you used your points but even that I'm sure your regretting using your points on AC , I know I did. On my flight, the food was not the same but it was tasteless . Service sucks , FA don't like to be bothered and not friendly at all they always have some kind of attitude. Mattress pad like a thin sheet of paper don't mention the amenity kit.
Anyhow I travel with them on domestic flights for work but for international flights, I always look for a better options even if I'm using points, unless they are a lot cheaper but that doesn't happen very often.

  14. lol nice Rush reference…..since your in Canada. Fun fact: The song YYZ by Rush was inspired by the airport and the rhythm is Morse Code for YYZ

  15. I really dislike reverse herring bone seats, i like to look out of the window for stretches of the flight!

  16. A very fair rating for a rather average experience. For me, the food offerings get a higher priority, so I wouldn't have given 82 points.
Great to see you inching closer to 100K well deserved subscribers, Kevin.

  17. Have to agree it's just OK. I flew from Vancouver to Zurich for my Birthday and had a horrific flight and when I got back to Canada I wrote a 3 page letter explaining what happened and did not even get a response. After that I fly anything But Scare Canada . Even though two of my best friends work for this Airline I wont ever fly with them again . 😊
