DATE:February 2023 “Yamagata Zao” is located on the Yamagata Prefecture side of Mount Zao, which is 1,841 meters high in the Tohoku region. In winter, snow blocks that freeze when the seasonal winds hit trees are called “juhyo”. They are spread over high altitudes above 1,500 meters near the summit. They are also called “snow monsters” locally, and you can experience the mysterious beauty of nature. The best time to see juhyo is from late January to late February.

山形県の蔵王、秋田県の森吉山、青森県の八甲田山で見られる「樹氷」が「日本三大樹氷」とされていますね。
The “juhyo'' that can be seen in Zao in Yamagata Prefecture, Mt. Moriyoshi in Akita Prefecture, and Mt. Hakkoda in Aomori Prefecture are considered to be “Japan's three major frost-covered trees.''
