Using tuk tuk, always ask for metered fare so it is fair for the rider and the driver. Don't get in to a one without a metered one. Even in the one you got in, it was there but the driver choose not to use it to scam.

Bro, You would have gone to 'LAKSALA' if you wanted to buy Sri Lankan unique products. Lanksala is a shop which is funded and owned by the Sri Lankan Government specially dedicated for tourists where you can buy Sri Lankan cloths, ornaments etc. It's a must visit shop in Sri Lanka.
I’m the same way. If I feel I’m getting ripped off at any store, I simply walk away, even if they would give it to me for free after. I feel like doing a public favour. If those store owners don’t get away with it, maybe one day they’re starting to realize that be honest is the way to go. I rather give a huge tip to the honest ones.
