   We had our beautiful girl till she was almost 11. I've almost always had dogs and she was the best of all of them, so loyal and loving. I believe she held out the last couple of months because she knew the (now adult) kids were coming to see her for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

   They aren't the original Irish wolfhound. They stopped breeding them when there was no more wolves in Ireland. The dog's on this clip in fact all modern Irish wolfhounds are great Dane/ deerhound cross.

    They are actually not bid shedders. We had then for over a dozen years and they are a wonderful breed. Miss our last boy so much.

    My childhood dog Blaze was a Deerhound and irish Wolfhound mix, the greatest dog I've ever had. He was 4 months old when my Mum bought him, I was 2, we grew up together, I learned to train dogs through him and how to groom and care for them. I miss him to this day and I'm 33 now

    I know I’m short, I’m only 4’10, but I once saw an Irish wolfhound and he was about to my shoulder on all four legs! And his owner said he was considered SMALL for his size! They’re SOOO tall.. but so adorable.

    If you have a decent sized pond, they are strong swimmers and will regularly swim for fun. That double coat is their swimsuit.
