Did you know Chinese Cresteds are often called “Velcro dogs” for their close bond with their owners? But how do they develop such strong connections with their human companions?
Originating from China, the Chinese Crested dog is a unique and captivating breed that comes in two distinct varieties: the Hairless and the Powderpuff. Known for their elegance and charming appearance, these dogs have become popular companions worldwide. The Hairless Chinese Crested is characterized by exposed skin, often limited to the head, tail, and feet, while the Powderpuff variety boasts a soft, long double coat covering its entire body. Despite their different coat types, both varieties share the same lovable personality and make delightful additions to families. Chinese Cresteds are agile and love to climb, showcasing a playful nature that endears them to their owners. Their close bond with humans has earned them the nickname “Velcro dogs,” reflecting their desire to be near their beloved family members. While their lack of fur makes them hypoallergenic and minimizes shedding, it also requires attention to skincare, especially for the Hairless variety.

Are they smart
After 16 years, he was a true gentleman and so well mannered his entire adult life.
Mam dwóch chłopaków powder puff, kocham jak dzieci grzywacze nie mają psiego zapachu !
That's a funny and strange title. I would say opposite, that 99% of Chinese Crested Dog Owner Know This ALL. And I am one of them.
I personally disagree with the intelligence rating, they should be much higher on the list possibly in the top 30. Mine is my assistance dog and he can learn new things very quickly within 30mins or less
No dog is ugly not a loving owner
Very smart and have lots of quirks…. love mine powderpuff ❤
Hi my mom says I’m a pure powderpuff , she loves the channel and thanks ❤
They are super smart, loving, loyal, protective, affectionate. My fave breed, no doubt!!
Mine have a very high prey drive and will chase and kill mice. No rodent has a chance.
So I would like to clear up a mild miss information in this video. I have 6 Chinese crested currently and I have had them most of my life to the point where a grandparent was a famous breeder for a long time. Powder puff is not the recessive gene for long coats its the dominant gene. Hairless is the genetic anomaly that breeders go for most times getting none or a very few each birth. Hairless due to the rarity are twice as expensive as the powder puff which are most common. Hairless and semi hairless are prone to bad teeth and skin problems among other issues that require more attention. Either way they are very energetic and are good for disabled people and those who require a companion that will never leave your side even when going to the bathroom. They love attention and do very well with other dogs if both are introduced at puppy hood. I have a cousin who just bought one from a AKC registered breeder and introduced it to her 10 year old Pure bred German Shepard and the Shepard loves him. These dogs are the best dogs I have ever had. I know people love the mutt dog breeds like labradoodles and those mixed dogs that breeders are selling to folks for premium prices but this breed is the perfect companion to anyone who wants a baby to love and will love you back at all times no matter what. Also Chinese crested are not from China they were originally bred to catch mice and rats on sailing cargo ships bound for china from Africa they were continuously bred to get smaller in size in order to fit in tighter spaces. Chinese crested love to go into small boxes and under the covers for this reason.
The genetics are African from the small African wild dog
