Thats a male cat and most likely the owner is already an owner of a male cat. Male cats are extremely territorial. Our male would attack ANY cat or kitten it saw on our street. This male is probably scoping out the ops. He smelt the males scent on his hand and instinct took over.
Instead of that hand just going empty for a pat,it must have offered a piece of bread or smth to eat,you wouldn't be bitten,plus the cat would most likely stay with you,clearly you've never adopted one😅
