The Flat-Coated Retriever (Flat-Coat) is a large and strong utilitarian hunting dog that shines at flushing birds, such as quail and pheasant, during upland shooting (the pursuit of birds usually found in heavy cover on the ground). He is also skilled at retrieving game from the land and the water.

I kinda have aflat coat retriever mix. I love her anyway., I noticed her ears set up higher like she is part Aussie Shepard.the people I got her from said it was a black golden retriever

I have a Border Collie mix that looks a lot like a flat coated retriever but a little larger and I get stopped at the dog park a lot when people ask me “omg where did you FIND THIS BREED?!” And I have to keep telling them that unfortunately she’s not a flat coated retriever 😂 I wish! I’d love one some day

I don’t think I’ll have another breed. Great noses, easy to train, fun companion, and just gorgeous animals. Pure joy!
Adopting my new soon to be best buddy max here in a few days once my application gets approved. The shelter said he’s a black lab mix but from looking at him in person and seeing the flat coats I’m 95% positive he’s a flat coat. Can’t wait to get him home!
I love my flat coated retriever Lexi so much. She is the sweetest dog, very obedient, gentle, and protective. Just an incredible dog. Everybody loves her.

Flatcoated retrievers are the best dogs for me and my family. We own flatcoats for 20 years now and we have always two in and around the farm. They hunt, they guard but best of all they are the most lovable companions you can imagine. Greeting from Germany

My girl, Haven, is a mix of Flat-Coated Retriever, border collie, and Australian shepherd and it's pretty interesting how the different personalities show up in her, but her clown side is definitely the Flat-Coated Retriever. She was a shelter dog that I adopted three years ago and I have no regrets, she's beautiful, she has a great personality, and she is one big love bug!
