They are wonderful dogs and love to be busy however as someone who grew up with one, I would argue they are more one person dogs than they are family dogs.

Highly intelligent? My sheltie is dumb as bricks. I watched him run directly into a glass door yesterday, stumble back, run into it again, finally realize it was glass, and then proceeded to try and jump it before I stopped him.
