  1. At the time I owned my Boxer, I was newly divorced with 2 young children. I could not ask for a better companion. She was gentle and loving with my kids and she grew up with them. She was a great watchdog, always aware and always protective without being too aggressive. During our life together I had surgery and my recovery was difficult. She never left my side. She slept with me during this, and at times when the pain was too great she snuggled in closer and more times than I can count I held on to her warm body for comfort and fell asleep. I was so lucky to have had her for 13 years and it broke my heart when her time came.

  2. I raised three full breed boxers . Two I bought from a breeder and one a year later from another breeder. These were the smartest dogs and easiest to train than any other dog I’ve had. At any time I could say Go to crate, and all three would run and get in their crate, when I said bed time, they would run get on their beds. They didn’t come out or get off the bed unless I told them to. The training wasn’t hard and it involved eating when told even if the food was in front of them , to drop what ever they had in their mouth and take it. I could lay a hotdog on their nose and they would sit there ,all three and only when I said take it they ate it. Sadly after nine years they passed away. I will get another but I’m waiting until I think I have only nine years left.

  3. I don't know if the drool fact is true. Yes, boxers are part of those dogs that easily devellop drooling habits but according to my family, they won't drool if you don't eat close of them.

  4. I love Boxers, they so awesome. I have had 2 and my grandparents used to breed them. I have very very fond memories and going to their acreage and having fun all day long with them. They kept 6 at one point which was awesome. I just lost my mixed boxer but she had a happy life and lived to a ripe old age of almost 17. That is unheard of for a life span but I think her being mixed helped.

  5. You seem to be right on. One thing if a person is alone like me Boxers help with those depressing lonely spirits. They are outstanding at reading moods and love to make their owners happy with the kind of love only a boxer can give and that is getting close. They really enjoy putting their heads close to their owners head for some telethapy.

  6. I had a Boxer when I lived in Hawaii. Bobo. We got her in 1968 when she was a pup. She died in 1980. Boxers are best !

  7. I’ve only trimmed my boxers nails once now & he’s two. Think he’s such a maniac he keeps his nails short naturally from him running & jumping off of things 😂

  8. They are quick to react but i cant see them actualmente bite and hold someone. Tell me your thoughts.

  9. I grew up with Boxers, and now at 74 I have had 6 of them. Prince, Josh, Zak, Gabe, Udo, and now Curly Joe. There just isn't a better breed of dog you could own.

  10. The only bad is that we will likely outlive them, so we have to go through that loss, which is devastating, because they are the absolute best dogs.
The best friends I have ever had❤

  11. My boy Kimbo became 12 years old, he was a big boy 44kg's and very social to other dogs but never backed down when things got heated. I could walk loose with him and he was always near me. He opened the front door for me with his paws as a 5 month old puppy when i accidentally closed the front and forgot my keys inside. He was also beautiful to look at, he always got compliments. I remember when i heared that my grandfather died, i cried in the livingroom and he literally grabbed me around my waist and started licking my belly, he never ever did that before, only when he saw me crying for the very first time. He became 12 years old, i miss him alot, he was the best dog i ever had.

  12. We love our Maggie. She fills our lives with pure joy.
She is a lovable 2yo fawn with white socks. I am jealous of her energy. I have a video of her jumping up a six foot fence. Not to escape mind you. She just likes to look at our neighbors dog and say “Hi…(boing)…how are…(boing)…you!”
Boxers are every good quality they say they are and then some. As for the drooling, nope. Or at least very rare.

  13. I have had 3 boxers in Texas. 67 lbs 13 years, 88 lbs 12 years and 105 lbs just turned 9. He walks 10 miles a day. I wet him down which maybe should be the tip.

  14. As a boxer owner, i think the main important thing about the downside is the lifespan. Now, a well loved and well looked after boxer can surprass the average of 10 years, my baby girl turned 13 in January. However, when it comes to health, it can be tricky. Since 2020 we have been dealing with different issues regarding tumors, epilepsy, gastro, etc. And while in our case, she has been able to bounce back and recover very good, the older she gets, the harder the recovery gets. And i mentioned that because a loved dog can surprass the average… but when times get tough, its going to be heartbreaking because of how attached you get, and thats facts.

  15. Expert in removing saliva from the walls! Never be without a trusty roll of paper towels and washable paint. The joy of living with Luca, Vito and now Sonny out weighs the flying spit❤

  16. Boxers are great family dogs, we are on our 4th, they are the best. 10 yr average life span sticks but they many great memories. A boxer owner friend always say they are part human. 😂 we lost our last boxer Maizy unexpectedly at 8 yrs. Tore us both up. We now have a 6 month old Bella.

  17. Idk about “great watch dogs” my son recently woke up to an inebriated teen fast asleep on his couch when he woke up the next morning. He was so pissed that mauve didn’t even whimper! 😂😂😂😂😂

  18. So smart and sensitive as well, my 3rd last one, when I used to get very bad migrains, I would hear him gently walking down the hall to my bedroom, checking to see if I was okay, then very quietly plodding back down to his bed in the family room, even though he was in pain from pancreatitus, Mum had to be looked after. They are just the most special dogs, and I have had other breeds also in my long life.

  19. We are now in 60s
We have our 5th , swore we wouldn’t have another
It’s harder not having one in the home . Than losing one but when you lose one you will never forget them

  20. While owning a boxer, you'll soon discover how the pros easily out-way the cons! Boxers are wonderful loving companions.

  21. I love boxers. I got my 1st boxer in my early 20s I'm in my 50s now and currently have 4. Ounce you get a boxer you will always want 1 in your life. Best friends

  22. I still miss my Keno. Lost him 09-12-2017. He slept on my bed and snored like a diesel engine. He was my friend. 😪

  23. I have owned two Boxers, one lived 12yrs and the other only 9. The only con was their life span and everything else was just pure happiness.

  24. They don't drool more than any other dogs, and their lifespan is on par with other breeds their size.

  25. Born in 54 Bruno was my first dog A BOXER lived a wonderful life Boudicca is my last dog A BOXER been a great ride

  26. I now have a 1 year old Boxer. Your descriptions are accurate thus far. Mine needs more exercise and playtime than I can provide at times, so I try to supplement that by hiring a dog walker when I am too busy to exercise her. I also question whether or not some of the many vaccinations given to dogs in the USA Today may be contributing to high cancer rates later in their lives. Likewise when spaying or neutering the dogs before they reach physical maturity, and growth plates have closed. My boxer is a joy to have around, though she has destroyed some of my stuff and digs in the yard out of boredom, or because she picks up scents from plant bulbs, truffles and certain rocks with iron oxide content. Just love your Boxer, and provide them with good food and cool, clean water. Do help them out on very hot or cold days, as needed.
