“ALL ABOUT LIVING WITH”, is a experts take on pet ownership of specific dog breeds. In this episode Lisa Cornett, who has over 22 years of experience owning, showing, breeding and advocating for the Am Staff, shares her wisdom on the breed as the ultimate family pet.
According to AKC’s published breed standard which was approved June 10, 1936, the “American Staffordshire Terrier should give the impression of great strength for his size, a well put-together dog, muscular, but agile and graceful, keenly alive to his surroundings. He should be stocky, not long-legged or racy in outline. His courage is proverbial.” His head should be medium in length with a broad skull, a distinct stop, and pronounced muscles in the cheek. The ears should be set high on their head and can be cropped or not cropped, but the latter is preferred. Height and weight should be in proportion. A height of about 18 to 19 inches (46 to 48 cm) at shoulders for the male and 17 to 18 inches (43 to 46 cm) for the female is to be considered preferable. The nose should always be black. Many coat colors are accepted. However, dogs with liver or black-and-tan coat, and dogs with more than 80% white are discouraged.

Great video!
She of all people should know this breed isn't that good of a guard dog.
You hear all of what she's doing? Up early. Attention during work. Attention and mental stimulation after work. That's what it takes to raise ANY terrier breed. If you're not up for that, do not get any terrier. You're not a match.
Make more videos on this breed
if anyone said they wanted to punch the dog i would laugh and say sign a waiver
Dino is an amazing representation of the breed….he's just gorgeous!!
nice!
Best dog I’ve ever know was my girl Jersey. Pretty 62lb black and white 4 legged angel.
I WISHD ID HAD 6 AMSTAFFS
I LOVED your story soo much. Definitely makes me want an Amstaff even more
You don’t just leave them means they will fight.
Are amstaffs more similar to British staffordshire terriers or apbt?
I literally had tears streaming down my face before I even knew what you were going to say about your melanoma. My boy is like a SPONGE with my feelings. He has to be touching me at all times and in hard times, he refuses to leave my side. I’ve had dogs my whole life and they have all had a special place in my heart but my Am Staff loves me with everything that he is. I’ve never experienced that before. It’s intense.
Just adopted a 3 month old amstaff and he's absolutely perfect 💜
These days, ear cropping is done for cosmetic reasons. … In the case of the Brussels Griffon, a hunting dog, the ears were cropped to keep them from being bitten by rats or other prey. Ear cropping also helped prevent ear injuries on hunting dogs who were likely to get caught on thorns or brambles.
Never cut ears or tail on dogs.
Great video I have always liked them, do you ever sale some?
Why cut their fucking ears
Absolute scumbags
I love my amstaff she is the best pup I've ever had she's so calm and loving and she loves to set a watch bird. She makes my heart happy and she is great with are kids. Amstaffs are the best
My friend has this breed. He needed me to watch his dog for a week because he needed to go out of town. I was hesitant, but I was the only one he trusted. Due time, me and the dog develop a strong bond. I find out the true definition of loyalty. What a beautiful animal.
I WISHD ID HAD 6 AMSTAFFS
I have a male 4 month old rescue who DNA tested 100% American Staffy. I'm confused though because he is already 24kg and bigger than the one in your video.
Vino looks very intelligent. Something human about his face.
My staffy had juvenile epilepsy but grew out of it and into a wonderful companion. It was definitely hard tho if you have no one to help out. I'd say they were fine if you could get a good 45-1hr a day in where they can just let loose running with other dogs. But also remember that when they get larger people at the park are going to start turning on your dog (judging the breed). Make sure you got a cool friend circle with dogs who can play specifically with your dog. I had an older Boston Terrier (opposite sex) and they became inseparable (good socializing tool). I even trained my Amstaff to play nice with a Cat. There's really nothing you can't do with them if you are consistent, and start socializing young at 2-4months+. Good Luck if you get one of these!
The AM STAFF was breed for show the APBT is breed for go only one real gladiator that's the APBT
Very informative, concise, and professionally done. Thank you.
miss my boy soo much, hands down the best breed out there!
Very informative video and beautiful dogs. Too bad about the short ear crop though. The red and white dogs seem to have quite a short muzzle. Amstaffs shouldn't look like American Bullies.
I totally agree 🥰 best breed. My Staffordshire even helped me with a litter of kittens that lost their mom at 2 weeks. ❤
3 months ago i had to put my AmStaff to sleep, for his own good. I miss him every second.he was almost 15years old.I've never felt love like he gave it to me. I cry every day when i am alone. Yesterday i got a tattoo with his name. If you are searching for a soulmate, a friend for life, buy a AmStaff. Tony i miss you, i will never ever forget you
Awesome dogs. Her dogs have a bullish look. I like overdone looking American Staffordshire Terriers.
A great overview of the breed by Lisa, she captures the traits of the breed perfectly. They are wonderful all round dogs, exercise is the key as Lisa mentions. They are a very energetic breed and it is essential to exercise them consistently to stimulate them physically and mentally. They are special dogs, they are so tuned in with their owner feelings and so loyal and loving. When well trained and exercised and responsibly owned they are very social and friendly with other dogs. They are very hardy dogs, however it is well worth getting a DNA test if getting a puppy to check for a wide gene pool and to have a good look at the mum and dad. Very important to get the puppy off lead and well socialised as early as possible. As commonly mentioned they are fantastic with people and particularly affectionate with children. They tend to be quite bouncy when younger and they are strong dogs so need to be calmed down when visitors come round, distractions with chews, bones help. There is a stigma to bully breeds due to irresponsible dog owners, bad and inaccurate press, and their muscular appearance, something like Lisa says you have to stick up for the breed and help dispell all the untruths.
If you have a Pit Bull you dont have an American Staffordshire
Thank you for such a wonderful video
How are staffies with cats? 🐈⬛
American Staffordshire terrier. A polite way of saying PitBull. Or vise versa. Remove any pre preconceived thoughts you have. Start with love, loyalty. And work. Like anything good AmStaff is good all around. What you put in, you get out. Simple. Very well behaved. Physically astonishing, by their history. They can be very attractive to the right person
they are not an easy puppy at all. Mine is 1 year and is barely calming down a bit. Puppy hood is hard
my brother died, then my 9yr old amstaff 2mos later, have a kid w addiction, when I lost my dog nikki. I went that night and got a puppy because I was dying of grief. She is the best thing in my life.Amstaff .
I come back to this video every once in a while to look at the confirmation of her dogs, they're darn near perfect. Paws, h-frame, top line, hocks, neck, head, etc man what beautiful dogs
absolutely AMAZING DOGS!!! cant get enough of them small hippos.
Mine is about 10 yrs old and is always biting hands and very aggressive at playing can't really just "hangout" with him😢. I want to take to trainer to help but its too expensive around me. May have too though because he's a wild child.
Love the channel God bless
She is awesome!
