  1. Great Dane owner and lover here. Something really important with the enormous breeds is training, so that they can live with you in your house. They need to be family to be happy.

  2. You forgot the Newfoundland. I knew one when I was a kid. He lived on a campsite that I used to go to when I attended camps. He was big, black and looked intimidating. He free ranged and had the run of the campsite. And he could always spot those of us kids who came from bad homes. He always used to pay special attention to us. It was funny though because he always ignored the other kids. I used to put my arms around his neck. I was devastated when I found out he got bitten by a snake and died. The owners of the campsite got another newfe that I never met. All I knew was that they called her Bessy and she… guess what? Got bitten by a snake and died. Rough luck, but that's life in rural Australia for you. Thank God I live in NZ now and don't have to worry about my caviler King Charles spaniel being bitten.

Also, can you do a video on the top 5 best breeds of dogs to have with cats? Would love to see your take. We have a cavalier King Charles spaniel and 3 cats. My last dog was a corgi and she practically raised my first cat from kittenhood.

  3. With the exception of the Irish wolf hound, the other 4 are all guardian breeds so I'd say that their "softness" is reserved only for their family, and everyone else beware unless properly introduced.

I have a cane corso and she is a total softee with us. I can do anything to her, pull her tail, squish her face, take anything, even high value treats/toys away from her, grab her head with no problem. But when it comes to strangers entering our property, she turns into a Cujo.
