Today we meet the puppies of the Giant Irish Wolfhound and find out everything in this guide to raising such a complex and special breed. The Irish Wolfhound was said to be the breed that killed off the last Irish Wolf in 1786. Giant breed puppies need to be raised in a different way to other dog breeds due to their bones and joints. Anneka visits Austonely Irish Wolfhounds for a second time to meet two Irish Wolfhound puppies, considered to be some of the rarest breed on earth. Find out how to raise these majestic beautiful Irish dogs who will grow into elegant old wizards.

I have an assistance dog who is an Irish Wolfhound. I wouldn’t have anything else. Only had them 50 years ago
What a. Beautiful animal. The short lifespan of these big dogs is hard to handle.
I grew up beside the old Jameson Whiskey house in Ireland and the owners had four huge Irish Wolfhounds. one was reputed to be the biggest ever of the breed and were in the Guinness book of records for the tallest dog. They were so gentle and friendly!
I really doubt a fully grown healthy male Irish Wolfhound could kill a fully grown healthy male Grey Wolf. Modern day IWH evolved as pets not for hunting Wolves.
Way would they extent the Irish wolf just ridiculous people can be also I always tell people that alot of breeds aren’t the originals like the small yorkies people think they’re the originals and I tell them they were actually much bigger for rating and hunting some got up to 25 30lbs
I thought Irish Wolf Hounds were the same as the Borzoi, but these look completely different than the Borzoi. I'm confused.
The dogs were used by the landed gentry to hunt down the wolves for a reward and for the thrill of the kill. The locals often viewed them superstitiously as evil killers. Very sad.
Dirk lived very long time with us 17 yrs? Loved him.
I was in a day trip Shannon airport from Heathrow on a charter flight on a Boeing 747. I went to a Castle to eat scones, and tea. But Irish Wolfhounds also liked scones, which they enjoyed. Beautiful, and gentle dogs.☺️
its sad that theres no longer wolves in Ireland
Yeah, a four-month old puppy will walk up to your 6th grader flatfoot and lick them on the face… they grow insanely fast…
I bet that room has a sweeping dog smell… 🤭🤭🤭
Nice breed with special grow rules and socialisation 8-16 weeks !🤠
My wolfhounds grandmother became over 11 years
When I met one at a Portland Oregon Rose City classic dog show ❤❣️💌💟💝💖💗💓🩷💜💚🧡💛💕💞🐕 🦴 after meeting one I found out that they are a fun and sweet dog in my opinion
Wonderful information! As much as I’d love one, I know I cannot afford one. Thank you.
this makes me fear and hunger
I’ve got a wolfhound/border collie cross. He looks like a 60 pound wolfhound. He is a sweet, smart guy.
I’m trying to learn about this breed since my wife and I have been talking about getting a dog. I wonder how these dogs behave around strangers (having family and friends coming over for the holidays) and I really worry about the short life they live.. they’re absolutely magical and the list of pros is amazing.
Is that Skyrim music in the background?
Thanks for this channel. Dog breeds vary so much that this kind of information is a necesscity. Thanks for all you do
Not babies.
😅
YOU ARE A VERY GOOD LADY 😊
Those are huge dogs.
I owned an Irish wolfhound, wonderful dog.
Todays IWH are bred to big, and with a short lifespan, beautiful majestic loving dogs, i suspect the originals were considerably smaller, more aking to todays Borzoi, they will have needed a lot of stamina to run down a deer or chase wolf off
Can I get a puppy,I want to buy 3:49
I want a dach/Russell again… she didn't tow me in a cart and hurt my back…😊
Irish wolfhound femele îs 1.2 Meyer tall
Instead of breeding all these functionally lame & tiny dogs that can't breathe, breeders should try to make the giants into medium sized, healthy & long lived dogs..
Dangerous… yes for sure, your feet will constantly get stepped on. But you learn to live with it because they’re the most amazing family members ❤
Anneka- wonderful women! ❤
I grew up with Wolfhounds; I love them. I just have one right now. His sister passed away ten weeks, two hours and twelve minutes ago today. It’s the first pair that had insurance. It was $70 a month each when they were puppies. The cost increased slowly for years, then took a big jump when they hit five. It recently hit $700 a month each: the surviving hound will be eight next week. The company announced last week that the policy will cancel in June. I too wouldn’t recommend insurance. If there’s a reasonably priced policy that covers something catastrophic, fine. Otherwise, save!
It's the Yorkshire Dales, NOT THE PEAK DISTRICT!!!
The Irish people made them kill the wolfs. The dogs did not do it.
Killers of wolves. 😂😂😂😂😂
Das waren sie mal, jetzt sind sie Schlaftabletten unt tot gezüchtet
