Massive credit and thanks to the Albany Animal Referral Centre for their care of Mali. They kept us fully informed as to how his treatment was progressing which certainly helped the worry levels.
He has a big long word called Eosinophillic bronchopneurmopathy (EBP) inflammation of the lungs by an inflammatory cell called eosinophils a hypersensitivity similar to asthma in people.
At this stage we have no idea how this has happened, he never mixes with other dogs, gets walked locally and is never off lead, so it’s a total mystery. They put him on oxygen and meds to help with his breathing.
At the moment he is on prednisone and has an inhaler, loads of rest.
So how did it start? A runny nose! It just goes to show you must be vigilant when your much loved BT has something out of the ordinary. He was taken to the vets and perked up but overnight it all hit, he couldn’t breath and was a very sick boy, he was admitted to the AFC immediately and I am sure that saved him.
Border Terrier Mali steals my donut, he will eat anything! He will sit and stare at an empty plate until we finally give in and give him the smallest crumb in the world.

Border Terrier puppy Mali plays with Dusty his Mummy who we adopted when we got Mali.

Dusty is a retired show Champion in New Zealand. Mali makes us laugh with his personality and is great fun, Dusty often sits back and watches but her little personality is growing everyday and she is fast becoming very cheeky!

Border terrier’s are easy to train, they love being with their family and are very loyal. They can be stubborn and will ignore you if there is no logical reason to do something and this makes them a challenge but with the right training, they are the perfect little dog. We love hearing from people who have Dusty’s puppies and happy to share photos of her.
