The American Staffordshire Terrier, also known as Amstaff (in the United States) or simply Stafford, is a medium-sized, short-coated American dog breed. It is one of several breeds commonly known as pit bulls. In the early part of the twentieth century the breed gained social stature and was accepted by the American Kennel Club in 1936.The name was changed to reflect difference from the Staffordshire Bull Terrier of England.
Watch dog and defence dog.
Nature: A true American Staffordshire Terrier is so aware of its strength and of its potential that it literally knows no fear.
Particularity: President Roosvelt raised them and promoted their images on military postings of the First World War. During the conflict they became popular and not only among the troops. A Staffordshire Terrier called “Stubby” saved a division of the army by warning of gas attacks. –

What a beautiful animal
“Staffordsure?”
Being penalised for Not cutting your dogs ears at shows is unbelievable ! it should be banned and illegal in every country
My dog is a good girl she is a wonderful dog ❤️ she loves me
Great Documentary. Thank you!. My breed since childhood. My father’s breed as well! I currently have two rescues, 1 all white, 1 black with white socks, and whenever asked about their breed, in shorthand, I refer to them as “Staffs” and let the conversation & myth dispelling go from there. Terrier people know but most North Americans are ill informed.
Diet part was fairly good too. The pasta, rice, and bread as part of diet though is far fetched. My dogs get pizza crusts, but no bread or pasta. Most all other sage advise empirically verified advice throughout this work! My wisdom from my farmer grandparents, and my mother for nutrients & fiber, I have been giving my dogs steamed or roasted sweet potato, squash, pumpkin, or pumpkin purée regularly with varying meat, and regular massive bones to channels those muscles. It’s a simple veggie formula I believe. Winning formula for 3 generations of humans and 9+generations of “Staffs,” Brit & American. Interestingly, my third dog, a Wheaton Terrier mix has taken to clearing my left over large zucchini from the fields. (I am a farmer). Spontaneous thing he did, picked up an 18” 3kg zucchini and polished it off like I would a watermelon on a hot afternoon. It’s become an occasional snack for him!
These dogs are the best!
I WISHD ID HAD DOG LIKE THAT AND 4 AMSTAFFS
I had the best Blue Nose Brindle. His name was Max Baer. He loved children! People would take his picture! People stopped their car to have a look at him. He liked most people, and if he didn’t like you, he would simply ignore you. He loved adventure and we traveled many miles together. My regret, was not breeding him. I regret that More than I miss him, because he was a Treasure…
I invite you to see the figurine of a Amstaff https://youtu.be/2YWjo5-XSnY
I WISHD ID HAD 7 AMSTAFFS 5 MALES AND 2 FEMALES
beautiful breed! 🇺🇸
Dang that guy jerking that poor dog around so hard was a bit much. Maybe back in the 70s when this appears to have been filmed that was considered acceptable. Poor dog.
Great video but got most facts wrong
great breed. This vid is spot on. My Amstaff of 13 years was the sweetest dog . Having 40 years of dog training experience a drunk neighbor thought I was abusing my dog when I was doing basic obedience and harassed me. My staff Jodi jumped straight up and pushed him back on his chest and he was pushed at least 4 feet backwards . She diffused the situation quick. She had no protection training. She was a difficult pup though, but she was my babe.
I prefer my Staffy with his floppy ears
Love these dogs, I wish they could breed the dog aggression out of them better tho. I’d love to own one but not if I have to sacrifice any aspect of my other dogs quality of life
Amazing visuals, just absolutely annoying commentary. The dude was in too much of a rush to finish his script and get home perhaps, or this is just how they did in back in the late nineties and I have since forgotten.
Oldschool original color is much more beautifull❤️ then the bleu
I got one for free , he was 2 months old when I got him , he’s so sweet and I can tell he’s a family dog , at the park everybody loves him because he doesn’t fight or growl to other dogs , he just want to play and play
Achilles my two year old dog is easily the most intelligent dog I've ever been around, I'm glad it's mentioned here.
"The aim of this 'cassette' .." ?
Dogs in display and described as pedigree were muts ….. Real pits have short short hair…. N a certain height
I stopped watching this when I herd him pronounce vitamins as … VIT UHH MENS … 😂… CHOW!!!
Is it really boerboel? it is looks like tosa.
These dogs will give you full attention and will depend on a strong leader. But they are the most loyal and loving dogs, they can even get along with cats in the right environment.
Great video! I have a wonderful 85 lbs AmStaff who is all that you describe. A wonderful family dog, excellent around small children. A wonderful fun, smart, and very loving breed.
I miss my girl so much… over her 17 yrs she was a great family pet, hunting companion and kayak buddy… had to watch her around other animals as she would try to exert her dominance and prey drive but I could trust her completely around babies, she was such a people pleaser… also very athletic and brave as all hell
Edit: very good documentary on amstaffs… pretty spot on in my experience… oh and my girl was a "rescue"… abandoned breeding bitch… their loss and our gain… there are too many ruthless breeders out there… at least they didn't crop her ears, which is about the only problem I see in this video… if cropped properly there is no harm to the individual dog, but sadly it does help stigmatise the breed
The dogs are naturally more aggresive than others, and do have that predisposition, but if you know how to properly work with them, you'll be fine as long as you stay calm. My staffy is a mix (Staffy + Schnauzer, but basically pulled all the staffy genes except the long snout), loves both other dogs and people, but can be VERY stubborn and vocal if she does not receive what she wants. You need firm corrections (without violence, of course) to get that under control. Funny thing is, I was against the breed until I got one lol.
American é magnífico uma máquina 🔥🔥🔥
A+
Thank you for producing this video !
I just wish people would stop cutting their cute floppy ears
They are super nice, they have good balanced builded excellent physic not to big not to small, for their size they are very strong even more stronger than many big sized dog's, its easy to bring them with the car due to their practical size, they will be your life frend a companion for life👑❤️Amstaff❤️ 👑
Beautiful dogs but the cropped ears are horrible
Why cut the ears?!? That is one thing owners do to make them look like fighting dogs… Sorry, starting with that in a «serious» clip about «Staffies»? Wrong owners, wrong «video makers», and wrong view of Staffordshire Terriers… Sad…
why they like to create breed look similar with to the pitbull and name them different breed??? what is the purpose???
I have a very Handsome American Staffordshire
We had an Amercian Staffy he was not like any other smart, strong, loved very longs walks, enjoys going for long drives in car or trucks, not a fan of pet food loved our home made Italian. The hardest day of my life was to put him down till this day I miss him very much he brought a lot of love into my neighbourhood in Adelaide. God bless all dogs they are they are the loving animals humans can have a mate for life with.
3 months ago i had to put my AmStaff to sleep, for his own good. I miss him every second.he was almost 15years old.I've never felt love like he gave it to me. I cry every day when i am alone. Yesterday i got a tattoo with his name. If you are searching for a soulmate, a friend for life, buy a AmStaff. Tony i miss you, i will never ever forget you
This breed is an excellent breed to have and there color standars are beautiful colors
the possible problem …? chill out, bruh. who wrote this script? thumbs down for defensiveness.
this is a lie, intended to separate the the the AmStaff from his history with the APBT. these are Colby dogs. they were dual registered into the 80s. the blue has always been present in both AMSTAF and APBT lines, including famous working dogs. the blue is traceable to the northumberland/lakeland regions and the blue pit dog. the watchdog line that informed so much of the American Bully is based off of these early Amstaf and Apbt lines – the Ruffian dogs. but are still real working APBT. you must stop.
how old will Amstaffies become dear dog friends here?
