  1. I’m in Philadelphia and I’m looking for a female Pekingese for my male dog

  2. I have an pekingnese tibetian spanijel mix we got him in 2011 now he is 11 years old i love my dog he has a disese water around the hearth.

  3. pekingese are born in a state of panic, they have miserable health conditions. breeding them needs to stop.

  4. That photo of the Pekingese in the black and red collar in the front yard with the brick and grass is my dog. That is my dog Nobu! Sadly he passed away, so seeing his photo in this video was quite the surprise. Not really sure how I am feeling about his picture being featured in your video.

  5. A lot of misinformation and contradictory information here, “not an office dog” “an office dog” “likes cats” “preys on cats”….truly it is all how you raise and socialize them. What they don’t fully explain is that not only does a Pekingese bark, they have a deep throated powerful bark. If you don’t see them you might mistake their bark as that as a MUCH larger dog. Their bark is not “yippy” at all. Also they are stupidly brave and if not trained can provoke larger dogs. We had 2 over 20yrs and they were fine with their breed or any smaller dog, but with big dogs you had to keep them under control as they were ready to assert dominance. Also unless you are showing them, get them a “spaniel cut” when groomed. The short hair will help them tolerate heat better

  6. This is a terrible video, the statements made throughout are contradictory in multiple places, clearly you don't have a clue about this breed. I have had Peaks since I was a child, I'm now 66 and still have Peaks. They are stubborn and loyal but don't tolerate very young children, although I had four children, its easier to train the children to treat them with respect, than trying to teach the Peak not to react.

They are 100% Lapdogs, cannot be kept outside and will want to get onto beds and furniture, and if you don't like this, don't get a Peak! Stairs are very very bad for them, as they can have back issues that can parallelize their back legs Jumping off beds and chairs must be avoided at all costs, we had ramps made for ours, based on our very long experience with them.

Get pet insurance and be prepared to possibly deal with certain inherent issues with breathing, heart and as already stated back issues. They need regular grooming and usually attach to one member of the family. They do love daily walks but not running and indeed some of our Peaks would even know the time the walks should occur, and bark at you, how they could tell the time, I have no idea. My most precious little boy (almost a sleeve Peak) lived for sixteen and a half years.

  7. My mil has 2 Pekingese and they have made me never want a dog. They’ve both been through multiple professional trainings (we thought maybe it was the trainer not doing their job right- obviously we were wrong since more than one didn’t work) and STILL aren’t house broken. They pee and poop all over the place and on your things. They’re extremely aggressive too- not just with kids but with people they’ve known for years. Maybe its not every Pekingese but anytime I see one on the street- I will avoid it. In my opinion they’re up there with chihuahuas, they’re terrible.

  8. 🦁One of the origin tales of the #Northernliondance tells of the subjugation of Mongoliantribes by the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), and the Chinese emperor subsequentlycalling upon his new subjects to pay tribute through song and dance. The dance featured #lion -like creatures made of wood and animal skin that were performed by Mongolian warriors. The emperor enjoyed the performance so much that he allowed the performers toreturn to their homeland and this #liondance subsequently spread in popularity acrossnorthern China. #Northernlions resemble 🐶 #Pekingesedogs🐶 and typically have gold-painted heads and shaggyyellow or orange fur with costumes that cover most of each performer’s body. The use ofred colors on the head, such as a bow, is used to represent a male, and green for a female. The dances are regularly performed with one or two #lions, but there are also performances with adult lions and several smaller child lions. There are usually two performers in the adultlion, and one in the child lion. With adult lion performances, there is usually a ‘warrior’character who leads the lions in their movements with a ball-sphere and does acrobaticchoreography.🦁

🦁One of the origin tales of the #Southernliondance is that a village would be attacked by a beast called the #nian which would consume much of their crops every harvest season. Tocombat this threat, the villagers created costumes and masks fashioned to resemble lions, but with fierce and grotesque faces and bodies larger than normal lions. Accompanied with loud sounds, the villagers would ‘play’ the lions which scared away the nian. Over time, the #lion_dance was performed not only to scare away the nian, but also demons and other bad spirits, thus bringing good luck and prosperity.🦁

  9. Just lost my 15 yr old Pekingese last week. One of the saddest day of my life. He was always by my side , waiting for me to come home by the door. Very mellow and calm. Until we meet again , Matty.

  10. Wow its like a bot makes these. He is constantly going like "ThE PeKIngEsE Is SO eAsy To TraIN" and then going "tHe pEkIngEsE iS stUbBoRn aNd dIfFiCuLt tO trAin"

  11. We have 3 Pekanese and they are so Bold that they will take on an Elephant. Has a Royalty Complex and once they Escape into a road you will have to go get them. TRAINING SCHOOL IS PARAMOUNT. Without training, good luck.
    But they are Worth it.❤❤❤❤❤

  12. I've had several Pekes over the years. They're quirky little guys. They're as close to owning a cat as you can get while still being a dog. They do what they want when they want and housebreaking is seldom fully achieved. BUT, they are hilarious, fearless, regal and smart. They understand what you want but choose whether or not to comply.

  13. I disagree with "not good with young children". My mom had two when my sister and I were toddlers They were very sweet dogs. The only downside side was when they would constantly try to lick our faces when we were on the floor. They were very sweet, affectionate little dogs.

  14. My Pekes have been so loving, no other breed has loved me like this, my heart, my soul my life is my Pekingese. I can’t live without them and having one just isn’t enough.

  15. Best breed in the world! All of my Pekingese have loved children. My fur baby sleeps with me. If you want a forever best friend get a Pekingese 🤩🥰❤️

  16. Not kid friendly?
These dogs will take pettings and lovins from any and everyone.
    Head scratches and belly rubs.
    They love attention.
Other then the need to give them baths regularly due to dookie sticking to their fur, these dogs are a piece of cake.

  17. My Peke, Fred, is smart, willful, stubborn. He has a deep-seated hatred of cats. He's terrible with kids. He hates being on laps. He doesn't care for strangers. He lives to go on walks and to guard his yard. He is ridiculously angry at bicycles. He was easy to housebreak and leash train—but was a monster to train about everything else. At around 2 yrs old, he ate my leather couch. He ate all my shoes. He chewed up all the electric cords. He would ram me at the door and play keep away through the neighborhood. He hates riding in the car. He's a lean active dog. I get him groomed three times a year. I love Fred…but never again. The first three years were so difficult. He's been a great dog since then (He's 13 now)…but he was a lot of work. My sister had a Peke–Bobbin. She liked getting into garbage. She was mean to her kids. She was stubborn. She would constantly escape. She liked to attack cats and larger animals. She chased cows. She liked her people if they had food she wanted or a toy she wanted. Otherwise–she had no interest in you as a human.

  18. My Peke is quite docile, she not aggressive, she is very friendly. But she has a tendency to beg when she sees people eating. She likes people food over Dog food

  19. My boys are so wonderful I love taking them everywhere I can take them to. They love the beach !! .. lol I have a good experience with my boys I’d get two more again of the Pekingese breed. I love this breed of dogs they get so much attention and affection from strangers when I take them to places like kitten kettle in Lancaster Pa .

  20. Only 12 dogs survived the British invasion above mentioned and all western Pekes, possibly all of them, presented to Queen Victoria are the genetic result of these dogs. In case anyone gets nervous there used be far fewer humans on the planet … a fact that fascinates me. Pekes are closer to wolves genetically than any other breed (gasp) except malamuts. Their independence makes them very hard to train and once you realize how smart they are and loyal etc. well, parti pris I obviously love my dog. Comments always welcome!! i watched by accident a video about Bob the Peke whose human a widower devoted to 1. sport and 2. Bob was astonishing. Best wishes to all.

  21. I had Pekingese she was a rescue, when I got her she was 4 or 5 years old and she lived with me 12 years. She was my heart, my best friend, my baby. I don't think that I loved any thing or any one more than her. I miss her every day and every minute of the day.
