I had 3 wonderful seasons with Kobelco Steelers from 2018-2020. Dave Dillon was head coach whilst I filled the Director of Coaching role. Unfortunately, in 2020 the competition was suspended due to the impact of COVID-19. However, in the Top League 2018\u20132019 and the 56th Japan Rugby Championship, the team won its second league title, its first since the inaugural Top League season in 2003\u20132004, ending a 15-season wait. It also captured the Japan Championship title for the first time in 18 seasons.My views on rugby have never changed since I followed the 1968 Japan National Team in NZ. I was 11 at the time. I loved the way they played\u2026.less kicking, more fast ball movement, innovative Lineouts and back moves. Demi Sakata was my favourite player. The way his team played shaped my mind about how Rugby should be played. I`ve always tried to stay true to this style of play and I am hugely excited to be working with Kobe again. It is a great honor to join the KOBELCO KOBE STEELERS, a club with a proud history and rich tradition.
