Ferdi Trihadi is an Indonesian illustrator and artist based in Fukuoka, Japan. <\/p>\n
Growing up in Indonesia during the 1990s, his visual language was shaped by a unique intersection of Western cinema and Japanese illustration.This cross-cultural foundation informs his current style, which blends the bold graphic elements of Western advertising with the rhythmic expression found in Japanese illustration.
The genre of illustration Ferdi creates is what he calls “Neo Pin-up,” a contemporary reinterpretation of classic mid-century pin-up art. The term “pin-up” originally referred to mass-produced illustrations of idealized figures intended to be “pinned up” on walls as icons of beauty and glamour. While traditional pin-up was often theatrical and highly detailed, Neo Pin-up utilizes modern image-making methods to focus on a minimalist aesthetic. By using monochromatic palettes and precise lines, Ferdi emphasizes the balance of composition and the character\u2019s silhouette.<\/p>\n
