{"id":2719379,"date":"2025-12-14T00:49:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T00:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wacoca.com\/news\/2719379\/"},"modified":"2025-12-14T00:49:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-14T00:49:15","slug":"germany-basf-announces-plans-to-phase-out-forever-chemicals-by-2028","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wacoca.com\/news\/2719379\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany: BASF announces plans to phase out &#8216;forever chemicals&#8217; by 2028"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-block-key=\"guj0i\">&#8220;World\u2019s biggest chemicals group to exit PFAS \u2018forever chemicals\u2019&#8221;, 26 November 2025<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"617q5\">The world\u2019s largest chemicals group, BASF, will phase out PFAS by 2028, ChemSec can reveal, as it joins a raft of major companies turning their back on controversial \u201cforever chemicals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"ch4kc\">According to the ChemScore index, published yesterday, one-third of major chemicals manufacturers say they intend to exit highly persistent chemicals, the toxic group to which PFAS belong.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"2fn03\">\u201cConsidering the need to maintain high safety and environmental standards, BASF calls for substituting the use of PFAS in industrial equipment,\u201d BASF said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"92tmo\">The German conglomerate, with sales of \u20ac65 billion last year, said it will phase out products (excluding crop protection) formulated with PFAS, opting instead to provide innovative alternatives to customers.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"2eks1\">BASF says it adopted this position in May 2023.
