\n8\/25 The Amerigo Vespucci, a 94-year-old sailing ship of the Italian Navy, called the most beautiful ship in the world, made its first port call in Tokyo at the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal. It will dock until Aug. 30.<\/p>\n

Also, from August 26-30, \u201cVillaggio Italia\u201d will be held to experience Italian traditions and culture.

\nVisitors can board the Amerigo Vespucci, and \u201cItalia Geniale\u201d is being held in collaboration with the Ministry in charge of Made in Italy, the Italian Ministry of Defense, and the ADI Design Museum.<\/p>\n

Amerigo Vespucci arrives at the port<\/p>\n

The Amerigo Vespucci departed Genoa, Italy, in July 2023, then headed west across the Atlantic Ocean, around the Americas, and across the Pacific Ocean, calling at Hawaii on the way, and now calling at Tokyo for the first time as its 17th port of call.<\/p>\n

Departing on August 30, the vessel will sail to Darwin, Australia via Manila (the port of call in Darwin will be from October 4 to 7). It will then visit 28 countries, including Singapore, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha, before returning to Italy in June 2025.<\/p>\n

Amerigo Vespucci is a training sailing ship of the Italian Navy, built in May 1930 at the Castellammare di Stabia Naval Shipyard in Naples, Italy, and she was launched in February 1931 and commissioned in July of the same year. She is 94 years old.

Rudder station at the stern. When cadets are on board for training, the rudder is operated by eight people, two on each of the four steering wheels, but normally it is operated by hydraulic assist on the bridge. The floor is a lattice screen.<\/p>\n

The 50-meter foremast is the first of three masts. The deck is lined with teak wood, and urethane cushioning material is placed snugly between the planks.<\/p>\n

The ropes for the sails are grouped at the base of each mast. The position of each rope on each sail is fixed. The ship\u2019s bell bears the letters VESPUCCI, and the bell-ringing cord is in the three colors of the Italian flag.
Each part has the flavor of a long period of time.<\/p>\n

All ropes, totaling 30 km in length, are made exclusively of traditional hemp rope (only mooring ropes are made of synthetic fiber to comply with current port regulations).<\/p>\n

Bow and stern wonderfully and beautifully decorated, with a life-size figurehead of Amerigo Vespucci*.
The ship\u2019s primary mission is cadet nautical training and naval diplomacy, with a standard crew of 16 officers, 70 petty officers, and 190 sailors.<\/p>\n

*Amerigo Vespucci : Italian explorer and geographer around the 15th century. He explored the South American continent and published his treatise \u201cNew Continents\u201d.<\/p>\n

The ship also serves as Italy\u2019s ambassador to UNESCO and UNICEF.<\/p>\n

ITLIA GENIALE, DESIGN ENABLES<\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cITLIA GENIALE, DESIGN ENABLES\u201d an exhibition of Italian design products, is also organized by the Ministry in charge of Made in Italy, which is responsible for promoting the history and culture of Italian design, and Italian companies, in collaboration with the ADI Italian Industrial Design Association.<\/p>\n
