Mihara Station is located in Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and is a stop for KODAMA trains. It is connected to the Sanyo Main Line and the Kure Line, both of which are conventional lines, and is convenient for sightseeing to Onomichi.<br \/>\nThe 500 Series Shinkansen shown in the thumbnail has been operated as &#8220;KODAMA&#8221; on the Sanyo Shinkansen after the NOZOMI service, but it was recently announced that four of the existing six trains will be retired. The 500 Series Shinkansen was the first Shinkansen in Japan to operate at 300 km\/h and contributed greatly to the speed of the NOZOMI, which had been operated by the 300 Series Shinkansen. The design of this train, which seems to have jumped straight out of a futuristic railroad car with a simple appearance that looks like it could be found in a futuristic drawing.
