［ブリュッセル １７日 ロイター］ – 欧州連合（ＥＵ）は１７日、中国発の通販サイト「ＳＨＥＩＮ（シーイン）」に対し、違法製品およびプラットフォームの中毒性のあるデザインを巡り正式な調査を開始したと明らかにした。今回の措置は、オンラインプラットフォーム上での違法・有害コンテンツ対策の強化を義務付けるデジタルサービス法（ＤＳＡ）に基づく。
ＥＵのビルクネン上級副委員長は声明で「デジタルサービス法は、消費者の安全を守り、彼らが利用しているアルゴリズムに関する情報を提供することで消費者に権利を与えるものだ。われわれはシーインがこれらの規則と責任を順守しているか評価する」と述べた。
これに対しシーインは、これまで体系的なリスク評価と軽減の枠組みの実施、若年ユーザーへの保護強化など、ＤＳＡの順守強化に向け多大な投資を行ってきたとした上で、今後も欧州委員会と協力していくと述べた。
フランス政府は昨年１１月、子どもに似た成人用玩具「ラブドール」や武器といった不適切な商品がサイトで販売されていることが発覚し、社会的な反発が強まったことを背景に、シーインのオンライン販売を一時停止する手続きを開始していた。
