[ニューヨーク １２日 ロイター] – 米金融大手ゴールドマン・サックス(GS.N), opens new tabのキャシー・ルームラー最高法務責任者（ＣＬＯ）が辞任したと、デービッド・ソロモン最高経営責任者（ＣＥＯ）が１２日発表した。米司法省が最近公開した文書によると、ルームラー氏は、性的虐待罪で起訴された後に死亡した富豪ジェフリー・エプスタイン氏から贈り物を受け取ったり、犯罪に関するメディアの問い合わせへの対応方法を助言するなどしていた。
ソロモン氏は声明で「キャシーは業界で最も実績のある専門家の一人であり、多くの社員にとってメンターであり友人でもあった。彼女の不在は痛手だ」と述べ「辞任を受け入れ、その決断を尊重する」と続けた。
事情に詳しい関係者によると、ルームラー氏は１２日にソロモン氏に辞意を伝えた。辞任は６月３０日付。
ロイターはルームラー氏にコメントを求めたが、現時点で返答はない。
文書によると、オバマ政権下でホワイトハウスの法律顧問も務めたルームラー氏は、メールでエプスタイン氏を「ジェフリーおじさん」と呼び、ワインやハンドバッグなどを受け取っていたという。
