This is the first official Studio Ghibli movie. I just watched it yesterday. I can't put it into words how much I admire Studio Ghibli for producing such masterpieces. Those movies will always have a special place in my heart and help me in dark times…
Does anybody feel a kind of emptyness whenever a Ghibli movie ends? Like you are leaving a fantastical world full of wonders and excitment. A world full of rich and colorful characters and places. A world you want to see more.
Remember watching this movie as a kid and at the ending I started thinking about the antagonist who was blinded and stuck in the Laputa as it ascending to space if he was still living while the music is playing, seeing nothing with no one around to respond no matter how loud you scream as you slowly losing oxygen. Let's say it was not a good experience to think about as a kid and I felt sorry for him at some point.

Studio Ghibili end credits songs (no small part due to Joe Hisaishi) have such a bittersweet feeling to them. Your glad to have gone on the up and downs of the journey through the movie but don't want it to end.
