Second-half goals from Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson gave us another win in a hard-fought pre-season friendly in Orlando.
Gabriel Martinelli had given us an early lead, but the hosts, cheered on by a vociferous crowd, struck back before half-time.
We eventually overpowered our MLS opponents though, to make it four wins out of four in the close season.
Due to a ferocious thunderstorm pre-match, the kick-off was delayed by an hour at Orlando City’s Exploria Stadium.
When play eventually got underway it didn’t take long for us to open the scoring. In fact there weren’t yet five minutes on the clock when Martinelli swapped passes with Sambi Lokonga inside the box, and his shot beat goalkeeper Pedro Gallese via a deflection.
There were few chances after that, and although we looked comfortable in possession, Aaron Ramsdale was called up halfway through the half to deny Benji Michel after the winger sprung the offside trap. The keeper made himself big to save with his legs when one-on-one.
Ramsdale couldn’t keep out the next effort though. From 20 yards out, Facundo Torres tucked his shot low inside the post to equalise, and send the capacity crowd wild.
Orlando City are midway through their MLS season, currently sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Next week they will take on New York Red Bulls in the semi-final of the US Open Cup. Their sharpness was evident, as was their commitment. There were three yellow cards in the opening 20 minutes.
We started to respond. Rob Holding’s cushioned header from a corner fell to Nketiah, but he was closed down in the six-yard box as he got his shot away.
Just before half-time he again found space in the box, but this time dragged his shot just wide.
The boss made five changes at the break, including bringing on Gabriel Jesus, who tested the keeper within 60 seconds of his introduction.
He then turned his man in the box before seeing his shot from a narrow angle turned away.
Lokonga was the next to try his luck, before our extended spell of pressure finally led to the second goal.
Jesus – a livewire since coming on – spun his man in the box and appeared to be fouled, but either way, the ball fell to strike partner Nketiah who made no mistake.
Nelson, who had only just come off the bench, added a third when he converted from Bukayo Saka’s cross.
It was another job well done from Arteta’s men, who march on in pre-season.

Attacking is Okay, but still, defending is too poor!
Gabby looks refreshed after the arsenal move.
Hope he does well but not to well of course 😂💙
Nkethiah tryng to do a Depay
Martinelli will only improve more.
Jesus Lord
thats a championship back line abysmal
The problem with Ramsdale he never stays in the line of the goal thus opponents have good chance to score, as for me Leno is still my no. 1 golie whatever others say, lnshort Leno is better than Ramsdale
I’d love for us to give Nelson a proper go this season.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I think he has it to be good for us
Love the phone kol celebration
So it wasn’t Partey then? Thought he was suspended
Wonderful! But not challenged yet?
Lokonga is so shite its unreal 0:41
Tavares is truly useless, 10 men would be better
Nuno Tavares was culpable for the first goal. He didn't even make an effort to block the shot.
Something still doesn't seem right with this team, just can't put my finger on it, defence, is delayed and midfield is slow too, better opposition would see the cracks. Just me judging from what I've seen thus far.
Facundo torres made in Peñarol
Great win, but our defence is massively disappointing 😞
they dont pass pepe
That's an own goal why do these pampered overrated footballers have the audacity to even claim something like this. Ps shearer started it lampard and Rooney took it to newer levels
Mate Jesus comes on, looks levels above what we have.
Nelson looks deflated even after scoring, unfortunately think its time to move on….Where's the energy, enthusiasm?
Nelson is actually a talent he should be given game time.
We look so good in this kit
Please get a new commentator – there is no enthusiasm in his voice its almost like hes anti arsenal
Nice game. Arsenal should also win next time
احبك كابريال خيسوس
tp 4 this season, in no particular order
Manchester United
Arsenal
TOTTANHAM
chealse
sell all those defenders
Decent win but those two defensive errors were worrying🤦🏻♂️
We're winning the prem!!!
Sounds like they were playing at emirates stadium
Ramsdale🥵
Arteta has to handle saliba the right way. He's solid and also a potential 50m+ kinda player. We have to get value out of him 1 way or another. If we loose him on a free next season or sell him for under 30m this window it'll be terrible business.
At first k didn't understand why were linked to many CBs after that first half wow
Very upset
Mari was horrendous
Tavares need to go on loan. He needs more confidence
Orlando looked like a pretty good opponent in this game surprisingly
Orlando city played well
Taveres is dog 😂
We need another striker because I believe Eddie and Jesus must start together the link up play can’t be ignored
tavares is young enough to be converted in to a winger..he can't defend
Jesus is a problemmmm
GK: Ramsdale,
DF: Tomiyasu, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko,
CM: Partey, Odegaard,
FW: Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.
(according to current squad if we can't sign top midfielder/winger asap before epl)
I am a city fan, but Arsenal playing style under Arteta is beautiful ❤️
Tavares needs a loan. Will just cost us goals this season
tavarez is absolutely ridiculous
