On the evening of May 28, a powerful eruption of Bezymianny volcano occurred on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia.
According to local authorities, the ash column reached a height of 15,000 meters.
In this regard, aviation has been assigned the maximum level of danger – red.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has announced a possible tsunami threat similar to the eruption of Mount Tonga in January.
Fortunately, there were no significant changes in the tide level at foreign and local stations.
In the last 24 hours alone, there have been seven ash emissions on Bezymianny.
Now, due to the wind, the ash plume stretches to the southeast and spreads towards the Aleutian Islands.
There are no settlements on its route, and hiking is prohibited in this area.
The record was set by a volcano in 1956 when it ejected a column of ash 40 km high.
As a result of the eruption, a funnel with a diameter of more than a kilometer was formed.
