Sony Xperia 1 III & Xperia Compact FINAL Rumors & Renders

This is the final Sony Xperia 1 III rumour/leak round up, along with the best renders. We will look at what to expect from the Xperia 1 III and the 2021 Xperia Compact that leaked recently. Heads up though – the Xperia Compact for 2021 seems to be a Japan-only model and it seems to be a mid-range Xperia device, NOT a traditional powerful mini-sized flagship.

Sony could well announce and unveil the Xperia 1 III and 10 III could next month (April) and with the first devices going on sale in May. If Sony manages this, it’ll be a real improvement based on previous years where there has typically been a minimum delay of 3 months between the Xperia announcement and the device going on sale.

Overall though, the updates to the Xperia flagship 1 II from 2020 (and mid-range model, Xperia 10 II) seem to be incremental. Smaller bezels, slightly brighter display, camera improvements – including periscope zoom on the 1 III etc. All of the good stuff such as 21 x 9 aspect ratio, gorgeous HDR OLED display, 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo front facing speakers etc will remain. There hasn’t been any reliable information on exactly what’s going on with the refresh rate, but personally, I’d be surprised if if doesn’t go up to at least 90Hz… We shall see. The compact device (which we saw recently) being a mid-ranger and only for Japan will be sad news for many. As I say in the video, it seems this is a Docomo (Japanese phone network) special edition…
