元「モーニング娘。」の矢口真里さんが2月12日、東京都内で行われた「第4回ベストフンドシストアワード」の授賞式に出席。「ふんどし」普及に最も貢献した著名人に贈られる同アワードの中で、「ふんどしを締め直して頑張る人」に贈られる「特別賞」を受賞した矢口さんは「この賞をもらったことで、（ふんどしを）絶対に勝負下着にしようと思う」と語り、報道陣を笑わせた。
今回の受賞に矢口さんは「昨年から芸能活動を再開し、まだまだ世間からの厳しいご意見がある中、こんなに背中を押される賞はない」と大喜び。授賞式にはふんどしを締めて来たといい、「今日ははピンクのドット（柄のふんどし）です」と明かし、「まだまだ初心者ですが、これからはふんどしを第一で考えて活動していきたい」とアピールしていた。
授賞式には、今回の同アワードを受賞した「情報ライブ ミヤネ屋」（読売テレビ・日本テレビ系）に出演中の日本テレビ報道キャスターの岸田雪子さんやミュージシャンのサンプラザ中野くんらも出席した。

Being offered “Special award” for “”The contributor to fundoshi wrapping””, one of the awards for celebrities who made the most contribution to popularize “Fundoshi”, Yaguchi said: “With the reception of this award, I will certainly make a “lucky” underwear from the Fundoshi (loincloth)!”, drawing laughter from the press.
