Mansai Nomura's new challenges 野村萬斎の挑戦

Mansai Nomura is the most popular Kyougen actor.

He protects and keeps the tradition of Kyogen, while at the same time he tries to introduce many new challenges to let new generations know about Kyogen.

One of his most popular new challenges was to act as a Godzilla in the movie ‘Shin-Godzilla’.

In Japanese, the word Shin has an element of meaning of God. Mansai was good at expressing the spirit of God and the likes that was represented by the movements of Shin-Godzilla.

野村萬斎は最も有名な狂言師です。
彼は狂言の伝統を守りながら、新しい挑戦をし、狂言を更に魅力あるものとして、今の世代の人達に伝えています。
彼の新しい挑戦として有名なのは、シンゴジラです。彼はゴジラの中の人を演じました。
