Borned in Kitashigeyasu, Saga, Japan in 1967, Toshihiko Koga was Olympic Champion in Barcelona, 1992 (-71kg category) and Silver Olympic Medallist in Atlanta 1996 (-78kg category). He also was 3 times World Champion.
Koga was known for his perfect and powerful ippon-seoi-nage and sode-tsurikomi-goshi He was an inspiration for many judokas, including myself. I used to watch Koga when I was a little judoka and get very inspired by his ippon-seoi-nage.
Unfortunately, Koga sensei died in march 24, 2021. A massive loss to judo world. Rest in Peace, warrior. You will always be remembered as a legendary judoka. Domo arigatou!
