河津桜まつりについて
河津桜は2月上旬から開花しはじめる早咲きの桜で、
1972年に河津町で発見されました。
花が大きくピンク色なのが特徴のこの桜は
カンヒザクラとオオシマザクラの自然交配と考えられてます。
伊豆の温暖な気候と早咲きの特色を生かし、
約1ヶ月を経て満開になります。
例年は2月初旬～3月初旬が開花時期。
満開ではなくても、五～六分咲き以上で十分満足感の
得られる河津桜観賞ができます。
河津桜まつりは毎年多くの人が集まる大イベント。
河津川沿いには約850本もの桜が咲き、
全体で約8,000本の桜が咲いています。
河津桜まつり期間中は多くの露店や桜のライトアップ、
様々なイベントを開催し、より一層盛り上がります。
「夜桜ライトアップ」は、ロマンティックな雰囲気が
高まりデートにぴったりです。
