Some may say that the OG’s laid the foundation for what Nogizaka46 is today, which certainly has merit, but the 2nd generation “stepsisters” provided the fans with a series of meaningful and often hilarious relationships between the two that leaves little room for daylight between them. The hardships they shared during those still-difficult days, and how they handled their disappointments in falling short of their Senbatsu dreams led to the incredible rise of the legendary UnderGirls team that they built together. Even after graduation (in which the last of the 1st and 2nd gen’s left at almost the same time), the 2nd gen members have proven to be just as big a draw at their fan club events as their elder-generation sisters. This dynamic is just one of many that makes Nogizaka’s history so intricate and fascinating. Future generations are truly fortunate that so much of this is documented on camera.
