［ニコシア ７日 ロイター］ – 欧州連合（ＥＵ）のコスタ大統領は７日、ＥＵは世界のどこであっても国際法違反を容認しないとし、トランプ米大統領が取得に関心を示しているデンマーク自治領グリーンランドについて、ＥＵは必要に応じて支援すると表明した。
コスタ氏はキプロスが輪番制のＥＵ議長国を引き継ぐ式典で「グリーンランドはグリーンランド住民のものだ。デンマークとグリーンランドに関する決定を、デンマークとグリーンランド抜きで行うことはできない」とし、「ＥＵの全面的な支持と連帯を得ている」と述べた。
その上で「ＥＵはキプロス、中南米、グリーンランド、ウクライナ、パレスチナ自治区ガザのいずれでも国際法違反を容認しない」とし、「欧州は今後も国際法と多国間主義の揺るぎない擁護者であり続ける」と語った。
トランプ大統領は米国にとってグリーンランドは防衛のために必要との考えを示し、グリーンランドの取得に改めて意欲を表明。 欧州主要国とカナダの首脳は６日、デンマークとグリーンランドに対する支持を表明する共同声明を発表した。
