［ワシントン １９日 ロイター］ – 米国のルビオ国務長官は１９日、ベネズエラへの対応を巡り、同国と関係が近いロシアと米国との間で緊張が高まる可能性について懸念していないと述べた。
ルビオ長官は記者団に対し
「ロシアがベネズエラのマドゥロ政権に対する政治的支援を表明することは想定内で、米国の判断に影響を及ぼす要因にはならない」とし、
「ベネズエラを巡りロシアと米国の緊張が高まることは懸念していない」と
述べた。
トランプ政権は空母を含む艦艇になどをベネズエラ近辺のカリブ海に派遣。トランプ大統領は１６日、ベネズエラに出入港する全ての制裁対象の石油タンカーについて「封鎖」を命じると表明したほか、１９日に公開されたＮＢＣニュースとのインタビューで、ベネズエラとの戦争の可能性を否定しなかった。こうした中、ロシア外務省はトランプ政権がベネズエラ問題で致命的な過ちを犯さないよう期待しているとし、ベネズエラのタンカーを巡る米国の決定は国際海運を脅かすものだと懸念を表明した。
