［ワシントン １１日 ロイター］ – 米当局は１１日、ジェラルド・フォード空母打撃群が南米地域へ移動したと発表した。これにより、同地域における米の軍備が劇的に増強され、ベネズエラとの緊張が一段と高まることになる。
２０１７年に就役した最新鋭航空母艦のフォードは、乗組員５０００人以上を擁する世界最大の航空母艦でもある。
国防総省は同部隊の到着を確認。声明の中で、この部隊は「麻薬密売の阻止、国際犯罪組織の弱体化・解体」に貢献すると述べた。
