［ワシントン ２日 ロイター］ – トランプ米政権は長射程の巡航ミサイル「トマホーク」のウクライナへの供与を望んでいるものの、現在、在庫は米海軍などに充てられていることから実現する可能性は低いとみられる。米当局者および関係筋３人が明らかにした。
米当局者は、「トマホーク」は在庫不足にはないと強調した上で、ウクライナにはより射程が短い他の兵器を供給できるとの考えを示唆。米国は欧州同盟国による他の長距離兵器の購入およびウクライナへの供給許可を検討する可能性はあるが、トマホークを供与する公算は小さいと述べた。
バンス米副大統領は２８日、長射程の巡航ミサイル「トマホーク」の入手を求めるウクライナの要請を検討していると明らかにしていた。また、 ロシアのペスコフ大統領報道官は２日、米国がウクライナに「トマホーク」を供与し、ウクライナによるロシア領内への長距離攻撃を可能にすれば、ロシアと西側諸国間の危険な緊張の高まりは新たな局面を迎えると警告した。
