タフなツーリングモデルはいまも便利な農業バイクとして大活躍！
DR200SEは、おもにアフリカ諸国で現在も販売されているオフロードモデル。そのルックスをひと目見て、ピンと来た人も多いのではないでしょうか？

そう！ ジェベル200です！ 大きな丸目ヘッドライトが醸し出す、独特のフロントマスクなんかそのまんまですね！
ジェベル200は軽くて扱いやすいサイズの車体に、素直なパワー特性の空冷シングルエンジンを組み合わせ、当時としては大型の丸目ヘッドライトを装備。ツーリング向けの軽量トレールモデルとして人気を博しました。

その後ジェベル200はヘビーデューティー指向に進化。フロントキャリアとリアの大型キャリアを追加装備して、その名もDF200としてデビューしますが、オフロードブーム沈静化の影響もあってか、ジェベルほどのヒットにはならず、2000年に最終型が登場したのち、国内市場からは姿を消したのでした。
ただ、頑丈で働き者なこのモデルは海外にその活路を見出します。いわゆるアグリカルチャー（農業用）バイクとして、DF200はオーストラリアなどで「DR200SE トロージャン」の名で販売され、現地で長く愛されることとなります。そしてその流れはアフリカ諸国や中東にも波及し、現在もDR200SEとして現役で活躍しているのです。
ジェベルの時は20PSだった空冷シングルユニットは現在では19PS。測定方法の違いなどもあるでしょうけれど、パワーは当時とほぼ同じと考えてよさそうです。フロントの下部には小さく簡易的ではありますがエンジンガードパイプも備わり、前後のフェンダーには大きなマッドガードも備わります。フカフカの土を掻いて走るようなシチュエーションにピッタリの装備です。
農業バイクのお約束、と言えばお約束なんですが、フロントキャリアは大きめのヘッドライトを囲むようにマウントされ、リアにも積載性に優れた、フラットで大きなキャリアが装備されています。この手のアグリカルチャーバイクは左右にサイドスタンドを備えていることが多いのですが、このDRは普通のバイクと同じく左側のみとなっています。
前後に農作物をたくさん積んで農園で働いたり、ある時は機動力の高い、便利な生活の足として黙々と働いてくれるDR200SE。この排気量帯のちょうどいいトレール車のラインアップが少なくなってしまった今となっては貴重な1台です。並行輸入ですが、日本にもまだごく少数の新車が入ってきているようなので、本気で欲しい人は探してみるのもいいかもしれませんね。
