［ブリュッセル ２５日 ロイター］ – 米連邦取引委員会（ＦＴＣ）は２５日、米菓子大手マースによる同業ケラノバ(K.N), opens new tabの買収を承認した。一方、欧州連合（ＥＵ）規制当局は価格上昇につながる可能性があるとして本格的な調査を開始した。
ＦＴＣは同案件が反競争的合併の基準を満たさないと判断した。
マースは米当局の決定を歓迎すると表明。ＥＵを除く全ての規制当局の承認が得られたとし、今年末までに買収が完了するとの見通しを示した。
「Ｍ＆Ｍ‘ｓ」や「スニッカーズ」などのチョコレート菓子が主力のマースは昨年８月、「プリングルズ」などを手がけるケラノバを３６０億ドルで買収すると発表した。
ＥＵの調査開始を受け、マースは欧州の競争上の懸念に対応するため資産売却を迫られる可能性がある。ＥＵは買収によってマースの交渉力が高まるため、価格が上昇する可能性があると懸念を示した。
マースはＥＵの決定に失望しているとしつつ、結果を楽観視していると述べた。
