[ドバイ １５日 ロイター] – アラブ首長国連邦（ＵＡＥ）と米国は１５日、ＵＡＥの首都アブダビに米国外で最大の人工知能（ＡＩ）キャンパスを建設する協定に署名した。
米商務省によると、アブダビに約２６平方キロメートルのＡＩキャンパスを整備し、電力容量５ギガワットに上るデータセンターを設置する。こうした契約はこれまで、中国が技術を入手する恐れがあるとして米国が制限していた。
関係筋によると、ＵＡＥは先端ＡＩ半導体へのアクセスを拡大する見込みで、エヌビディア(NVDA.O), opens new tabのジェンスン・フアン最高経営責任者（ＣＥＯ）が１５日、アブダビでムハンマド大統領やトランプ米大統領と会談した。
関係者によると、ＵＡＥは今年からエヌビディアの最先端ＡＩ半導体を年間５０万個輸入できる可能性があるという。エヌビディアはコメントを控えた。
ＡＩキャンパスはＵＡＥの国営企業Ｇ４２が建設するが、ラトニック米商務長官は「米国企業がデータセンターを運営し、この地域全体で米国が管理するクラウドサービスを提供する」と説明。トランプ政権は、米企業によるデータセンター管理を義務付けることで、半導体を安全に提供できると考えている。
