［ワシントン ４日 ロイター］ – バイデン米政権は、国家安全保障上の懸念を理由に日本製鉄(5401.T), opens new tabによる米鉄鋼大手ＵＳスチール(X.N), opens new tab買収計画を阻止する方針を近く発表する見通しだ。関係筋２人が４日明らかにした。
同買収を巡っては民主、共和両党から反対の声が高まっている。
ＵＳスチールはこれに先立ち、買収が成立しなければ、数千人の組合員の雇用を危険にさらし、複数の製鉄所の閉鎖や本社移転を余儀なくされる可能性が生じると警鐘を鳴らしていた。 もっと見る
関係者によると、早ければ今週中にも発表が行われる可能性がある。買収計画を阻止すれば、緊密な同盟国である日本との関係に影響を与えるとみられる。
ＵＳスチール株は１７．５％下落して引けた。米政権の計画について日鉄はコメントを控えた。ＵＳスチールからのコメントは得られていない。
対米外国投資委員会（ＣＦＩＵＳ）が買収計画を巡り、国家安全保障上の問題がないか審査しているが、ホワイトハウスのジャンピエール報道官によると、現時点でＣＦＩＵＳから大統領に対し正式な勧告は出されていない。
カービー大統領補佐官はバイデン大統領が買収計画を阻止する計画についてはコメントを控え、「米国の鉄鋼会社は米国で所有されるべき」という大統領の見解を改めて示すにとどめた。
同案件の国家安全保障上の承認プロセスを監督している財務省はコメントを控えた。
ＵＳスチールの従業員は４日、本社前で集会を開き、買収への反対を再考するよう政治家に求めた。
日鉄は４日、ＵＳスチール買収完了後に経営陣の中枢や取締役の過半数を米国籍とするなどのガバナンス体制を公表した。 もっと見る
