[ワシントン ３日 ロイター] – 米国防総省の監察官室は３日、ヘグセス国防長官がイエメンの親イラン武装組織フーシ派への空爆計画について通信アプリ「シグナル」で情報共有していた問題を調査すると発表した。
ヘグセス長官に宛てたメモによると、監察官室はシグナル使用が機密情報に関連する同省ガイドラインに違反していないかどうかを調査するという。
問題のやり取りには空爆開始の正確な時間のほか、奇襲作戦前には極秘とされる標的の詳細が含まれていたが、ヘグセス長官は機密情報が暴露されたことはないと主張している。
この問題は閣僚らによるシグナル上のグループチャットに、米誌アトランティックのジェフリー・ゴールドバーグ編集長が誤って招待されたことで発覚。同誌は先週、やり取りの詳細を報じていた。
同省のスティーブン・ステビンズ監察総監代行は、調査について「国防長官や省職員が公務のために商用メッセージアプリを使用する際の省方針と手順をどの程度順守していたかを判断することが目的だ」と述べた。
