Researcher says Long COVID causing “great deal of suffering”

The pandemic may be over, but millions are still dealing with COVID-19’s effects. The CDC estimates nearly 20 million Americans are struggling with the effects of Long COVID — the persistence of ongoing health problems long after the infection has passed. Bradley Blackburn has more.

  1. My husband got ‘covid toes’ the one and only time he’s had covid, almost 5 years ago. He still suffers from pain/toe discoloration, toe nails falling off etc. It wakes him up at night and can make him miserable. He’s in his 40s with no other health issues. I’ve had covid 4 times now, courtesy of my job in the health field and always have flu like symptoms but no lasting effects. My grandma died from complications from covid. My kids have all had it and have ranged from tired with sore throat, to no symptoms at all. Covid is so hit or miss in how it affects people!

  2. Yep. It is really difficult. And I had it in January 2020 before they said anything about it!

  3. They had to interview a psychiatrist because an infectious disease specialist probably didn’t want public exposure and risk the blowback from the trailer experts.

  4. My Long COVID symptoms also went away while I was going through chemo for breast cancer last year. But they came back when it was over. It's been 5 years for me, too.

  5. Reading the comments has opened my eyes. My legs and back are bad. Walking around a grocery store is it. I was homeless but ended up desperate for a place so took a upstairs apartment and boy ouch. I used to be able to Walk 10 to 20 miles a day. Ive fainted and hit my head, had nightmares living in my car and bashed my legs on the dash, steering wheel and column. Masks brought back ALL the memories of a 4 month ex rated time in 84. Sometimes I feel like my heart is just going to call it quits. I don't even know what kind of job I could get or do. I had one j&j shot and one Pfizer. Then heart felt weaker.

  6. Yall just want to use covid as an excuse for a cover up on these chemicals used on everything.

  7. Is long covid part of having received the vaccine and had the “disease “ ?

  8. Look up Dr. Bryan Ardis. He has a lot to say about this and is helping people with LC.

  9. What an absolute joke. You censored two of my comments for no cause. Talk about the reality of the book 1984. This is simply a propaganda site.

  10. M.D. here: We tried to warn our patients beginning in Feb. 2020, but we were laughed at. They told us that "God is in conrtol of everything". Half of our patients refused to wear masks in public. The American people had no interest in protecting each other. Our patient's families threatened us when we refused to prescribe ivermectin for acute Covid-19.

  11. It's never over for us. I'm useless compared to how I used to be. I'll never be recognized as disabled for SSI. I'm scraping by being supported by my partner who himself is on SSI. I would guess many homeless and deceased people are/were Long COVID victims (and we are victims of this disease) that people just think are lazy useless people. We all majorly kicked a** before all this. Now we are left in the dust.

  12. Pleasedo more coverage on this topic, specifically about the social challenges we face and the fact we get no to little help even from family who have thier doubts we are for real. ❤ THANK YOU

  13. Why is the interviewer wearing a mask though? COVID is contagious but LongCOVID is definitely not. Just saying

  14. Anyone struggling with this, there is hope! You can find recovery stories of people who have gone through long covid, cfs/me, chronic pain, etc. Raelan Agle and Rebecca Tolin have YouTube channels where they interview recovered individuals and the tools they used to overcome. I have found them to be inspiring and hopeful in my own journey. For my own journey through chronic pain and other symptoms, I have found hope and help through a book called Unlearn Your Pain by Dr. Howard Schubiner. His book really explains the brain body connection and why certain people linger with chronic symptoms which includes long covid. I hope these resources can help any of you or someone else you know struggling and suffering. There is a growing community of help and hope to you! ❤

  15. I’m one of the many victims still dealing with it I lost my smell and memory and taste back in 2021 and it’s 2025 and I still have same symptoms any help for us!!!

  16. Hey. I hear that health clinics and hospitals can no longer mention Covid, HIV-AIDS, vaccines, health disparities, etc. I received this bit of info from a clinic board member. The media is next. Y’all need to have a word with the people who voted for this. Trump insists that someone did.

  17. VALTREX 1000mg seems to be helpful (after experiencing about 3years of post-viral issues, and a diagnosis of high levels of reactivated Epstein-Barr virus in IGG/IGM blood testing).

  18. “We still need more studies”…that phrase was what set me to commenting.
Dr Patrick Soon-Shiong spoke with Tucker Carlson, here on YouTube, very recently. The title had to do with childhood cancer, but this topic here, is also discussed in depth. I highly recommend searching for it. The information from the Dr is 🤯 and left me feeling like I was educated…and, with tons more questions. And, angry, because his information is not getting out to the people!
I’m not promoting any channels or politics or conspiracy theories. I’m just a person who is always interested in learning.

  19. Always cool and happy to get information of life invention is a miracle to
life communication in infinity behaviour life.

  20. Sounds like POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) It can be brought on by a virus or major surgery. It’s chronic and has many symptoms.

  21. I've had long covid for 3 years. Absolutely brutal experience. Please check out MCAS, POTS and ME/CFS. The unholy trinity that most long haulers are suffering from…

  22. The hardest part is neither doctors or patients know if a patient’s current condition is due to long covid or not. It is especially difficult to diagnose when the patient has other chronic illnesses. I am thankful this is still being looked into

  23. I think I had a bad case of Covid in the summer of 2019 before they announced Covid. I've talked to other people who say the same thing. Then I got Covid in July 2024 and it was verified by testing. I saw a doctor and they tested me and put me on Paxlovid. I was bedridden for about a week and a half. I only got out of bed to feed my cat and to make sure i had fluids. Then it took me about 3 to 4 months to start to feel normal again. I was tired all the time and a little out of it. But I'm doing well now. I just listen to my body and if I am fatigued, I take a nap. I'm lucky because I am retired and I can nap when I want to. The other thing that happened the 2nd time with Covid is I had a lot of post nasal drip and it tasted horrible. And once I was out of bed and moving around I made my self some coffee and it tasted horrible. I'm 68 and I've been drinking strong black coffee every day of my adult life. It wasn't until 8 months later, I started enjoying my coffee again. I thought that was very strange.

  24. I had a brain mri for a severe bout of vertigo I had for 2 weeks straight in Oct. It came back showing moderate to severe white brain matter. I'll be seeing a neurologist in a few wks to hopefully get answers as to why I have so much. My pcp Dr said it's not normal to have it so bad for my age. My niece who's a gp Dr read the results (didn't see the actual mri) and said it infers to a traumatic brain injury, which I've never had anything happen to my head other than covid Nov. 2020 in which I nearly died. I too, haven't been the me since having it. It did a number on my body, joints, muscles, emotions. Praying for some answers when I see the neurologist soon,.
