Ghostly encounters: The legacy of the 2011 tsunami in Japan | Witness Documentary

The Japanese city of Kamaishi was almost entirely destroyed in the earthquake and ensuing tsunami of 2011. It was the biggest natural disaster to hit Japan, killing nearly 20,000 people.

More than a decade later, local taxi drivers claim to frequently pick up “ghost fares” of the deceased. Passengers spot an increasing number of wild deer which some claim to be intermediaries between the physical and spiritual worlds. A night with Kamaishi’s taxi drivers reveals a community haunted by its loss while still struggling for closure.

Tsunami Ghosts is a documentary film by Katharine Round.

  1. Those souls need some shamans to go and release them so they can be free of the sufferings. You need some good shamans, money, and some offerings paper money and those souls will be able to leave this reality.

  2. A few years ago, I started reading a book about the tsunami, and stories from some of the survivors & families of the victims. It was incredibly interesting, but also one of the few books I just couldn’t finish. Reading parents’ accounts of that day, sending their kids off to school as normal, and then afterwards, them going to the temporary morgues, trying to identify their children’s remains weeks after the disaster…it was haunting.

My brother in law runs a rescue foundation for cats that had to be abandoned in the Fukushima area. He brings them food and captures them to give them medical attention, love, and new homes!😻❤😻
