Last weekend Donald Trump announced 25 per cent tariffs on most imports from Canada and Mexico, and an additional 10 per cent levy on imports from China. Canadian oil was hit at a lower rate of 10 per cent. The duties will take effect from Tuesday. Just days later these tariffs were suspended.
Trump said the actions were in response to the “major threat” posed by the flow of migrants and drugs into the US across its borders with Canada and Mexico.

Russia 3rd best in US trade imbalance
Every country wants safe and secure borders, even Mexico. However, Trump and FELON are proposing extreme changes, that most likely benefit THEM!!
If prices go up, within the country, it can also lead to more employment and taxes paid. Those are good things. Purchasing from other countries, promotes goodwill. It shoulders some of the burden, when it is impoverished. However, we need to keep fentanyl and related drugs out or controlled.
This is truely tarriffying
Canada will never get an energy east pipeline because we are a divided nation. Hopefully, we can get it right when the Americans take the country over.
Trade surplus could be a reflection of over demand due to consumerism. When everyone's gotten rich as stocks/crypto balloons.
US government and the CEO of major US companies have had a policy for decades of deindustrialisation to take advantage of cheap labour.
Who lobbied for these tax policies, nobody knows 😂
We all know these tariffs are a terrible idea and the MAGA Trumptards aren't part of this channel sadly.
YOU GOT A TARIFF
YOU GOT A TARIFF
YOU GOT A TARIFF
President Trump is doing just fine, the greater majority of Americans and people all over the world appreciate a real leader not afraid to challenge the corruption and the waste, get used to it losers.
NAFTA? Nah F ThAt
he wants to annexe Canada.
I love how you matter of factly just lay things out logically without judgement. we need more channels like yours on the internet.
11:22 Samsung phones are actually mostly being manufactured in Vietnam.
Trump is more transactional than other presidents and doesn’t look towards developing long-term relationships. Something tells me that’s accurate and also accurate about his family life and especially his relationship with his wife pretty much everything he does.😮
Tariffs will increase costs of finished goods and components used throughout US manufacturing. This will be an immediate and huge hike in inflation. To fight inflation the Fed will have to hike interest rates which will be wonderful for the billionaires but possibly take away the middle class. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun..
Dont worry. We're too stupid to expand our pipelines 🤡
Canada has massive tariffs on US dairy and poultry products specifically so we can't sell them there.
Is Patrick lying? In 2024, trade deficit with Canada was $68 billion. Trade deficit with Mexico was $152 billion.
With respect to tariffs as bargaining leverage, I suspect that you lack education in American (and global) history.
I leave the lesson to you.
Please deal with your TDS in a professional & medical capacity.
Correction , China trade’s with ASEAN is bigger than that ,it is with the US .
Tarrifs are self defeating as you say, they shift consumption to domestic producers and therefore eliminate their own revenue stream
You forgot to include the working capital requirements
What annoys me most about Trump is his behaviour is creating an uncertain business environment. Its not as bad as a communist or fascist economy (your business could be seized by the government or sold to their cronies). But it is introducing so much uncertainty that as a consumer I am saving all money. I cant imagine the sleepless nights businesses are having over this crap.
Canada does have a west coast pipeline recently increased to carry 9 million bbls a day
thanks amazing video !!
its rly quite simple, put a tax on all (global) imports that grows by 1% every year that there is a trade deficit and shrinks by 1% every year there is a surplus, and dont give exemptions for favored industries (this is the hard part, lobbyists will always bribe with talk of jobs or just donate money to parties). if this was done a deficit country would stop getting screwed by the wage suppressing going on outside in the world, and then the next biggest deficit country would bear the brunt and should implement the same policy, and eventually force the surplus countries to either reform or shrink. this way there is no need for an international coalition, each deficit country can come to this conclusion whenever they feel like
Trump is an economic and science illiterate. And so are his supporters
Will Canadian, Scandinavian and Mexican airlines be buying Boeing or Airbus?
"You might think more thought would be put into these things before a rule is passed, but bean counters don't think that way."
The far right rides in economically troubled times.
Musk has twitter as a megaphone
What don’t you get?
If free economies want to impose tariffs on countries that supress wages, then they should start by America and follow it up with peripheral Europe.
Viewer from Argentina here. Our President and some other folks had just rugpulled $90 million dollars from private investors via a pump and dump scheme with a cryptocoin called $LIBRA operating over Solana. I'd like to see a video about it, Patrick
So the Chinese have to buy more from the USA but only things that the USA wants to sell them and not what the Chinese actually want to buy. So the Chinese are guilty of trade imbalances because they refuse to buy things that they don't particularly want ? Is that what you're saying ??
"have meant that pipelines to the coast were never built" 23:40 Well, some have been built – in fact the Trans Mountain pipeline from Alberta to the west coast was recently expanded to a capacity of 890,000 barrels/day (about 1/5th of Canadian oil exports)
What happens….we win, MAGA!
"China can raise wages and balance its eco"
Or China can raise military production to replace the excess civilian one and outproduce the World combined n times in mass-produced cheap smart weapons… To balance its economy, among other thing, heh heh
It's a planned economy after all
The Westerners do have a blind spot to how easy such things are to do in a non-democratic countries.
Mexico City Daily News as a "Reliable" Source of Information? Shocking. It's like Relying on "Fox and Friends" for Verifiable Content Information.
