［ワシントン／デトロイト １５日 ロイター］ – ミシガン州のグレッチェン・ホイットマー知事（民主党）は１５日、トランプ次期米大統領が表明したメキシコとカナダへの追加関税は米自動車産業に打撃を与え、自動車価格の上昇を招くほか、中国の利益となる可能性があると警告した。
ホイットマー知事はデトロイトでの演説で、関税賦課によりサプライチェーン（供給網）が損なわれるほか、生産ラインが停滞し「米・カナダ両国で雇用が減少する」と指摘。
関税に関する協力など巡り、オンタリオ州首相や他のカナダ当局者らと活発に協議していると言明した。
同知事はまた、多くの部品が自動車完成までに何度も国境を通過し、カナダと米国間の年間貿易額７０００億ドルのうち４分の１がミシガン州デトロイトとカナダ東部オンタリオ州ウィンザーの国境を越えていると説明した。

Before getting into automotive reporting, Nora was an investigative reporter with the Rochester Post Bulletin in Minnesota. Her series on the state’s organ transplant system earned the Minnesota Newspaper Association’s award for best investigative story of 2022.
A Wisconsin native, Nora holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, and attended St. Norbert College as an undergraduate.
