Washington Tsunami Update; 30 Ft High Tsunami Strikes Lake Roosevelt

A tsunami just struck the state of Washington, bringing a 30 foot high wave to a regional shoreline. And yet, this event on November 17th of 2024 did not occur along the coastline of the Pacific Ocean. Instead, happened more than 200 miles inland at a large body of water known as Roosevelt Lake. This video will discuss why the landslide occurred, its size, along with similar events which occurred during the last 80 years.

  1. Thankfully, no injuries or deaths have been definitively traced to these past inland tsunami events at Lake Roosevelt. Let’s keep it that way. Only property damage (docks, businesses, boats, etc) have been recorded during past events. A photo exists of the tsunami wave right before it struck, but I do not own the licensing rights to the image in question which can be found on Facebook.

  2. The earlier slide period coincides with early Hanford operations and may be the result of drawdowns associated with nuclear reactor operations and the need for river cooling to support those operations.

  3. that's nothing.. have you covered the Tsunami in Alaska in the 50s? several hundred feet high.. also caused by a landslide (sorry Stevie, but The Chicks did it better, lol)

  4. Of course….Seattle thinks it’s aaalllllll about them. Never thinking about the other 98% of the state

  5. it is clear that attributing the term tsunami to an event that took place completely inland is astonishing, I heard about one of these events that took place a long time ago
during the year 0563 AD in Switzerland on Lake Geneva (so very far from the sea) near Geneva a very large landslide caused a tsunami nearly 65 meters high that swept the ENTIRE lake. this event was named the Tauredunum event

  6. Are they sure this landslide wS not created by the dumping of earth from the tunnel digging projects
The dumping of earth of that sort will create the conditions that lead to the mudslidez

  7. It did? Yeah I live here too, and didnt hear anything about a tsunami. Ah. Because it wasnt one. It was a landslide.

  8. ¿Hay versión en español de tu canal?
Mi inglés no es suficiente para entender los detalles de las explicaciones, y me gustan mucho tus vídeos, algunos los he utilizado para preparar mis clases. Gracias por contribuir a dar información que vale la pena.🎉

  9. So it's like sink holes. I didn't know this kind. I don't know other servants. Here in USA. What I have seen I don't know if anything has happened

  10. Oh now I remember that very big tsunami 🌊, but unfortunately I was just a fart 💨 in my crazy as hell weed smoking 🚬 parents pants 👖 at the time 🤓

  11. @GeologyHub Pay attention to Site C on the Peace River. They are filling it right now and the banks are unconsolidated Shales.
