When this happened?
Im afraid now living infront of the sea😢
For more than 20 years, this is my first time watching the most complete compilation of all the footages in chronological order and even in HD. And I'm fascinated by the way they keep the younger brother interview and put it in the end after the older brother tells us his struggle. Hats off to the team that making this doc.
I would like to see Sri lanka episode on youtube @nationalGeographic
😢
I wonder where is she now? I mean the girl save by him. Where are her parents that time.
OMG… It's hard to watch this tragedi 🌊😢
I still remember that scary morning day!
This is the most complete compiled footages. Thank you
I remember seeing this on TV all them people just died. swept away. I cried.
People said that they saw a lot of ghosts on the beach afterwards, a lot spirts of kids
It brings back a lot of trauma in my life. But the humanity in it is so necessary for the world to watch all over again.
So sad. My friend that I knew and met in California was living in Thailand when the Tsunami hit. He said he was lucky he was cheap because he lived in an apartment far enough away when it came through. He was on the 2nd floor and the water rushed through his apartment and he only had his shorts on and his wallet in his pocket.
He was/is a teacher and taught children how to speak English. So many children he knew and saw the day before were all gone. The days after were horrible as the days were hot and you can smell the many bodies that were decomposing in the rubbish. Some bodies were even in the trees.
Heartbreaking.💔
Aceh from Indonesia ❤️🩹
This christmas 20 years ago ….
Alfatihah untuk seluruh korban
Where can i watch all the episodes in streaming websites for free please😭
Excellent, gripping documentary.
im from indonesia, its hurt to fell
I watched all the episodes yesterday. I did cry watching it. I followed most of their survivors stories for the last 20 years and Iearn a lot about Tsunamis. RIP all those people left the world so soon that day and I hope the survivors of this tragedy are doing well.
9:15 excellent explanation of how a tsunami forms and how it would appear to an onlooker. It’s just a massive wall of water that sweeps away anything in its path.
It's a tragedy that nobody knew that tsunamis almost always occur after an earthquake in coastal areas. Even though the Japanese know this, they were slow to react following the much larger 2011 Tohoku Earthquake which was 7 years after this disaster.
really good documentary, somehow its remembering me the 2009 earthquake on my place, electricity off, so many people die hit by a house/building 😢
just yesterday, the earthquake strikes again despite its not strong as 2009 but still its makes people here worry more over our city was close to the sea😢
I remember the movie based on a true story "The Impossible" 🥹
😭😭
I was crying like baby, but the most I cried when Theo has been found. Those were happy tears. For me my sibilings are most important thing. Sibilings should always be your best friend.
I am a person who was also a victim of the Tsunami in Aceh, Indonesia, an event that was also very scary was that our car was speeding until it hit many people on the road 😭😭
I truly can't brain the fact that "…water being LIFTED VERTICALLY" and people were going with their day OBLIVIOUS on what was about to unfold in the next 60 minutes. Like ZERO WARNINGS, 0-100 just like that.
😢 From 🇱🇰
A best moment 20th years ago from 2004
seperti masih kemarin
It's been 20 years. 😔
20 tahun Tragedi Tsunami Aceh …
Only indonesia and thailand?
I was expecting sri lanka and india too
Good documentary. Is there a part 2? It was because of this incident that I got to know the word "tsunami" and I think the world learned this too.
I have seen so many documentaries on this tsunami!
Thirteen years after the Aceh tsunami, in 2017, I finally visited the city known as the Verandah of Mecca. At that time, I wondered what it would be like if such a disaster happened in my hometown. A year later, on September 28, 2018, an earthquake and tsunami struck my city, Palu. Some of my relatives became victims; some passed away because of the tsunami, and others are still missing, buried under rubble. Through this film, those memories come back to life. I hope the victims rest peacefully.
The team in Hawaii waited 45 min after the earthquake hit, knowing a tsunami was underway, to start alerting the affected countries? Woww! That's super helpful.
I live in West Java, Indonesia
This was a huge news then
Hundreds of thousands of people died
I can't stop my tears from falling
My condolences to all the people who lost their loved ones
May they all rest in peace
And to all the survivors
May you all be strengthened
A tsunami is nothing to take lightly!
Excellent documentary, which is full of facts. Being living in a city more than 2000 km from the tsunami affected area, i can assume the difficult time people had hone through. MY SUGGESTION is that you should also cover those lucky people who had left the place well in time. Some of the people i have come to know are the film actress of bollywood who was in phuket and was on the top floor room and had just returned to the room minutes before the tsunami. Another indian civil servant who had just taken off from Port Blair or Chennai airports. The pilot on arrival had announced CONGRATULATIONS and the passengers were surprised to hear these words because they had thought that they may have survived mal function of the aircraft. Only after reaching the baggage belt that they came to know what they have survived from.
Ya Allah ternyata sudah 20 tahun yg lalu… nonton ini sedih banget.. ngga bisa dibayangkan korbannya ada berapa 🥺
I live in Chile a country super prepare to face earthquakes however You don't have so much to do when a tsunami hits The coast. We know that when an earthquake occurs and You are by The sea You have to run to the highest places Even buildings. Cities have signals that indicate where to go in case of tsunami. A tsunami is so dangerous and destructive, the only thing You can do is to keep away in a highest place and watch the destruction😢.
Wow this so sad 😭😭😭
Wish they had covered Sri Lanka as well.
Its not complete 😢
When a disaster hits, you have no other choice but to unify. Let’s not wait for bad times to care for & help each other. Get rid of this individualist mindset. Instead of me, me, me, let’s try WE. ✌🏼
