[メキシコ市／ワシントン ５日 ロイター] – メキシコのシェインバウム大統領は５日、米国が不法移民の大量強制送還を行う場合、第三国出身者を受け入れない方針でトランプ次期米大統領と合意を目指す考えを示した。
関係者２人によると、トランプ氏の政権移行チームは不法移民の出身国が受け入れを拒否した場合、別の国に移送することを検討している。
関係者の１人はパナマ、英領タークス・カイコス諸島、バハマ、グレナダが移送先に含まれる可能性があるとした。次期政権で国境管理責任者となるトム・ホーマン氏は１０月下旬、メキシコも選択肢になり得るとロイターに述べている。
シェインバウム氏は記者会見で「米国が第三国からの人々を出身国に直接送還することでトランプ（次期）政権と合意することを望む」と述べた。メキシコが受け入れを拒否するとは明言しなかった。
ＮＢＣはトランプ氏がメキシコに同意させるため関税を脅しに用いる可能性があると報じた。
一方、バハマのデービス首相は第三国出身者を受け入れるよう打診があったと明らかにした上で、「断固拒否した」と述べた。
パナマ政府はこれまでに「公式な連絡」は受けていないとしつつ、第三国出身の送還対象者を受け入れる義務はないと表明した。
