The 2024 US Open main draw runs from August 26 – September 8 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 144th time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Last year, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and United States’ Coco Gauff claimed the men’s and women’s singles titles. It was Djokovic’s 24th Grand Slam title and Gauff’s first Grand Slam title. This year, at the US Open, we’re set for another spectacular tournament as the world’s best tennis players head to New York. I'm shocked Ostapenko did not try to out-weird Osaka with her clown outfits today.
I can't help thinking both players would play a lot better if they'd shifted some of that weight.

Why are these two playing in the 1st Rd.?? Anyone observing Osaka in her recent tourneys can see that she is coming on, and on the verge of recapturing her top form. So Ostapenko faces Osaka and gets beat in Rd. 1, but Sara Errani (#96 world ranking) gets to play docile Bucsa (#60) and advances to Rd. 2?? Make it make sense!!!! Strict observance of ranking is just dumb, especially when your eyes tell you that Osaka is a world-class talent returning to form. Let Osaka play Errani, and let high-ranking Ostapenko play Bucsa. This guarantees the best chance that two higher-quality players will be advancing. I am right, and there is no counter-argument. So why do they do this?
