アメリカのバイデン大統領と中国の習近平国家主席の会談が15日、アメリカ西部サンフランシスコ近郊で行われました。現地で取材にあたっているワシントン支局中村記者の中継です。
中村記者：
およそ1年ぶりに行われた米中首脳会談。両首脳は会談冒頭、台湾問題などで緊張が高まる中、関係の安定化にむけて取り組む姿勢を強調しました。
バイデン大統領「誤解や誤認のないように、互いに明確に理解しあうことが最も重要だ」
習近平国家主席「互いにうまくやっていくための正しい道筋を見いだすことができる。米中2国間関係の将来が有望であると固く信じている」
アメリカの政府高官によりますと、会談はおよそ4時間に及んだとしています。両首脳は2022年8月を境に途絶えていた、軍の高官同士の対話を再開することで合意したほか、中国外務省によりますと、AI＝人工知能に関する政府間対話を始めることでも一致したとしています。その一方で台湾をめぐる問題については平行線をたどりました。バイデン大統領が2024年1月に行われる台湾総統選に中国が介入しないよう求めたのに対し、習主席はアメリカが台湾への武器支援をしないよう求めました。トップ会談で両国の緊張の緩和にむけ一定の成果はみられたものの、これを継続して進めていくことができるかが大きな課題です。

日本は米国の忠実な奴隷に値し、米国の主人のために土壌を整えることにあらゆる努力を惜しまなかった。 中国に撤退を懇願したのは明らかに米国だが、むしろ中国が米国に助けを求めていたと言われている。 少し知識のある人なら誰でも知っていることですが、米国の債務を救えるのは中国だけです。日本の債務はほぼ崩壊しつつあるのに、未だに他国を嘲笑しています。小日本は本当に安いのです。

台湾総統選は野党合体したから野党の勝ち確だ。 って事は台湾有事なんて起こらん。 中国と台湾が仲良くなるだけ。 米国側は武器なんて送れなくなる。 東アジアは平和になるが中東のドンパチはマジで危険。

The Xi administration finds itself unable to abandon its pursuit of the "unification of Taiwan" goal at present. Meanwhile, the domestic economy is in disarray, with recent removals of the foreign minister and defense minister by the government and the People's Liberation Army. China is currently not in a position to launch a military invasion. The only option for the time being is to "buy time" through a summit meeting.
Despite domestic posturing, claiming demands made to Biden, the fact that China agreed to the summit suggests a current "stalemate." Prolonging the status quo will only exacerbate China's total decline.
Economic strength forms the foundation of national power. A declining economy inevitably leads to a weakening military. Unlike in the past, modern military might relies on advanced technologies such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI). China has acquired these technologies by allegedly "stealing" intellectual property from the West. The U.S. Department of Justice, FBI, and other agencies have been actively combating this, restricting trade, investment, and technical collaboration with China in these critical areas. Consequently, China finds itself contained in cage.
China's only option is to develop its own technology. However, the best talents are demoralized, unemployed, and many wish to "flee to a foreign country." In this context, We cannot expect to surpass Western military power by merely stalling for time; it will likely become more obsolete.
An intriguing poll reveals the changing perceptions of the U.S. among the Chinese people. Despite the ongoing U.S.-China conflict, the percentage of Chinese viewing the U.S. as "hostile" dropped from over 80% in April 2022 to 48% in October 2023. Conversely, those considering the U.S. "friendly" increased to 45%. This surprising result might indicate a subtle diplomatic shift by the Chinese Communist Party or reflect the Chinese people's disillusionment with the Xi regime.
Conversely, a Gallup poll on "how Americans view China" recorded a historic low of 15% in 2023, reflecting an increased China-bashing sentiment among Americans.Despite this, there remains a possibility that Xi might act impulsively and target Taiwan. We, in direct confrontation with China, must steadily enhance its defense capabilities. The decline in Biden administration's approval rating also signals public demand for a departure from a "pro-China"
