What a lovely little album; I’m glad I finally decided to listen to it.
Nick Drake was a real spoiled brat rich kid who thought everything would fall into his lap but threw the ultimate dummy out of his pram when his massive privilege ever so slightly failed him. Oh, and he has a weak voice and stole all his tunes off his mum.

I lost my pink moon, I only wanted to love her.
Some people have said this song is a metaphor for Nick's depression. But I think that's wrong. Black Eyed Dog obviously is about his depression but for me Pink Moon is about inspiration and the creative process. The moon is traditionally considered to have the power to inspire poets and musicians to write.
This is my first listen to this song and artist and I'm instantly drawn in ❤

"He recorded two more albums—Bryter Layter (1971) and Pink Moon (1972), which both sold poorly. Drake's reluctance to perform live, or be interviewed, contributed to his lack of success. Drake experienced depression, particularly during the latter part of his life, a fact often reflected in his lyrics. On completion of his third album, 1972's Pink Moon, he withdrew from both live performance and recording, retreating to his parents' home in rural Warwickshire. On 25 November 1974, Drake died from an overdose of a prescribed antidepressant; he was 26 years old. Whether his death was an accident or suicide has not been resolved."
I would've completely missed out on Nick Drake had it not been for the band Anathema.

This album sounds simple and beautiful the first time you hear it. It's not until the 2nd or 3rd listen that you hear the loneliness.
